Yeah i'm OK just ****ed off really.

Stupid accident only me involved thank GOD.

Lost control on an exit leaving a large roundabout.

Back end started to go tried to correct it but just slid passangers side first into a couple of road signs across the grass.

Looks to be a total loss, nearside front wheel is pushed back and loads of damage on the front wing, passangers door, and rear passangers door.

Still waiting on the assesor to come take a look but I think its a gonner.

Any idea what I am likely to get for it?

05 plate 34k on the clock, good condition

Thanks for the replys guys would have to happen today.

Had a really crap crimbo too.

Thankfully the wife got protected no claims on the car so thats one thing.

What to get next!?!

Doug

Will try to get the pics from the salvage company.

Didn't have my phone with me at the time

Should be at the garage Wed so can take pics then anyway.

Doug

do they give you dealer price or private price??

private i would say £7500 - £8000,

dealer £8500 - £9000

neither really, they take the cheapest one then take another 25% as far as i can tell :(

Yeah I was hoping for nearer the £8000 mark

We will have to see.

Was looking at getting something else in the new year anyway.

Just not this way ;)

yep but you don't have to take it,argue and you should get average trade value for it.

They should give you the car's value (ie what it would cost to buy an exact replacement) but they will give you a stupid offer upfront in the hope you'll just accept it and go away. Worth scouring Autotrader to find out what the going rate for a car of your spec, age, colour and mileage is advertised for and use it as evidence to push the offer price up. The more ads you can find to back it up, the better ;)

Sorry to hear of your bang, mate. Sadly this is that time we all hope never to see, the true value, after all that ringing around, of our insurance companies. My old bosses' insurance company came back to him with a figure for his missus' written off frontera way more than he expected, more in fact than he could ever have sold it privately for and, given they were going to change anyway, it was a bit of a result. Be pragmatic (no one was hurt) keep your fingers crossed for anything north of £7000, and good/better luck for 2008.

:orb_blue:

Sorry to hear of your loss mate - must be really rough.

Hope you sort out a replacement soon with a minimum of headache....

Bas

at least no one was hurt mate, wish you all the best mate in getting decent monies for your car

Shame about your car, but at least you're okay.

Glad you are Ok, best to get checked out for whiplash, at A&E, As it takes about four days to kick in with the muscle spasms then the pain, by which time it is to late to add it to your claim

What car next

Well it could only be an SE loads available on Skoda UK from 3k miles to 13k miles or is that smiles

A bit late but Happy New Year I am sure it will be

Regards National

Shame about your car, but at least you're okay.

Many Thanks for all your kind words of support. Greatly appreciated

Funny really the three years I have been a member and not really written about much.

Crash my car and write more than I ever have :D

Funny old world.

Feeling a bit stiff this morning but I think the alcohol has helped a lot! :D

(All hale to the ale!!)

Happy New Year to you all.

Doug

P.S to answer glasgowchrisfRS's question, no just standard sorry.

Very sorry to hear about your car, Thats sad that you may not want to answer this but did it have arbs fitted to it, Was just curious as i have read a few threads saying if they are fitted the car can breakaway on roundabouts, I saw an Astra sport do exactly the same thing in St Helens over the xmas period, The guy driving it wasnt going fast or anything, Not implying you were going fast either, But if there is diesel or petrol on them they can be lethal, I hope you get sorted asap, and get a good offer of the insurers, It may be repairable,
