Cheap DVD head units

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I just bought a 2003 Octavia vrs ( Very happy with it as I'm moving up from a 1.1!). Anyway the radio needs to be changed, I was looking through the forums and I've seen loads of stuff about installing MFD units but I don't need GPS. So after browsing ebay I came across this type of double din unit:

eBay.ie: 7" MOTORIZED+ TOUCH SCREEN+ BLUETOOTH CAR DVD/CD PLAYER (item 320200128247 end time 31-Dec-07 23:30:00 GMT)

Anyone ever bought one of these, are they any good? And what type of block connection does the Octavia use, is it ISO standard?

Don't do it.

They are total cack.

rubbish and yes the octavia uses standard iso :)

Save some pennies and get a decent branded unit (JVC, Kenwood etc) Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource.

Don't bother with the tat on eBay unless you know exactly what you are doing.

And there is nowt wrong with these either if single DIN is an option: Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource. JVC KD-AVX11 - JVC JVC-KDAVX11

Yes the screen isn't 6 inches but I had a very early AVX-1 and it was surprisingly good. The face plate comes off as well so less likely to be nicked than an exposed double DIN unit.

I looked into this type of head unit last year, suffice to say one of the above units was on its 4th eBay owner in 3 months!

i guess the quality of it wasn't great!!?

Cheers for the replies, guess I'll steer clear so.

i have just bought a kenwood double din unit for my fabia vrs.

i would highly recommend holding out till you have the cash to buy a good one. i just paid £640 for mine, but that included built in garmin nav.

you can get an identical unit but without the built in nav for £440.

if you want cheap try dhgate
