What Spark Plugs?

Featured Replies

I've got no documentation of mine ever being changed either after 67k.

So, back to my original question... which ones?

Ideally ones that don't have to have the gap changed :D

They should have been replaced at the major 40k service along with the brake oil change if it was main dealer,Ring em they may have a record of it.

Just checked through my service book, can't find any information about the plugs being changed.

Although I don't have the 40k service paperwork present, only the stamp.

Is it worth getting the lastest coilpacks as well when upgrading the spark plugs as I hear there are later revisions?

Do coil packs just completely die, or can they partially go?

So far these have been mentioned;

Denso Iridium ik20

NGK PFR6Q

NGK BKR7E

NGK PFR7B.... plus the 2 above.

Bit confusing really :(

At the end of the day its up to you Ethos.

The platinum ones are long life plugs (up to 40k)

Denso iridium do make a long life plug with excellent performance (vk20y) but is quite expensive.

The denso iridium ik20 has a shorter life span (bit cheaper) but works well.

Or you can opt for the standard copper ones which people on this thread say work well (change around 10k)

Cool thanks mate. Might just go for these then;

NGK Platinum Spark Plugs SKODA OCTAVIA 1.8 20v TURBO RS on eBay, also, Skoda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Jan-08 12:35:34 GMT)

They are the standard ones the RS come with, although i'm guessing they will be fine for a remapped car too.

Thinking that if mine haven't been changed before then this could be my surging problem!

Anything about the coilpacks I wrote above? :)

Have you checked to see which revision they are Ethos.The part number inc end letter (which you need)is under the coil connector on the coil.

I am not sure if the pencil coils degrade over time but new coils certainly won't hurt.

I also think you would be lucky if this worked and fixed your problem :D
