Skoda UK Customer Service

Is it me or does anybody else agree that Skoda UK customer service dept ALWAYS backs the retailer 100%, and never accepts that your point of view may be right.

Thats how its been with me every time i phone them with a problem.

They where ****e when I was stuck with coil pack failures, they were feck all use to the dealer as well though to be honest.

I've only had to deal with them twice and both times found them less than useless :(

My first and only experience of Skoda CS is the same, although the dealer did try to meet me half-way on one part of the issue I had a Skoda CS refused the dealers request.

This being my first Skoda means I will think hard when I change my car in a couple of years - even if the dealer is a bit funny about stuff, as long as the manufacturer comes up trumps I feel happier - in my case neither the dealer or Skoda CS were any more useful than a chocolate fire guard. Never mind, their loss - not that they worry about it!

Thx and nice to hear your comments. Keep them coming.

Well i have been told by CS today that they cannot follow my problem any longer as the dealer cannot find the fault which i am reporting. Even though one mechanic saw it happen twice yesterday. After I left the 3 of the dealer emploees closed ranks and said its the way i'm driving the vehicle.

Didnt have the guts to say that to me face to face. Typical.

To cap it all ive been waiting 3 days for the dealer principle to phone me.

Another Skoda.................NO F CHANCE................

Swearing removed!

They have not changed and probably never will.

They must be loosing more potential customers and certainly existing customers. I would certainly think twice before having another Skoda as much as I like the car.

Yep , I won't buy another one and it's not because of the quality of the vehicle but because it took 12 visits to fix a single fault and skoda CS weren't any help

I've had good service from them so far, albiet for minor issues, thankfully!

I get a response to my initial enquiry that same day, explaining that they will answer in a few days - a few days later, said response appears.

Long may it continue - though obviously hope I never have to call on them for anything major.

......and I thought it was just me that had these issues getting warranty work done.

Had dealings with them once and are indeed total rubbish, nice cars but it's the CS experience puts me off from having another Skoda.

I have found them unhelpful and will certainly take that into the equation when buying a new car :thumbdwn:

absolutley... i loved my vRS, but I wont buy another with the attitude I had when trying to get my console bushes done under warrenty,,, SUK er..... SUCK....

Luckily I've had no problems with my Superb, but when the warranty expired Skoda tried the old "recall" trick to get the car back into the dealer network. (No chance).

The PD diesels built in '04 were fitted with tandem pumps from either Bosch or LUK. The LUK pumps were prone to breakage of the cover securing bolts - hence the recall.

Skoda UK won't tell you that it's only the LUK pumps which are affected (see Australian Transport Dept website) and insist on "inspecting" these cars - even though mine clearly has a Bosch pump.

The recall was in fact issued well before my warranty expired. I wonder why they sent me notification of it about 2 weeks after warranty expiry?

So, guilty on two counts: wasting my time and fuel and using a recall to try to get out of warranty cars back into the dealer network. (I wonder what else they would have "found" if I'd taken it back).

No more VAG cars for me - the Internet is littered with sharp practices from their dealers. The Japanese now produce diesels which are as good.

rotodiesel.

I would like to add that I think I do have an excellent dealer in Alex Lawrie in Liverpool, and when my Mk2 vRS broke down with an electrical failure in the first week of owning it, the dealer fought my corner when SUK blamed the fault on me cleaning the engine bay. Cleaned in line with their instructions in the owners manual I might add :D

SUK - totally carp.

Alex Lawrie Skoda - First class service.

I think I only bought the slug instead of another "dsg" equipped car because of the dealership.

Agree with Alex Lawrie dealership, they're a great bunch of lads working there

on a slight tangent, but has anyone actually had GOOD experiances with ANY main dealer or brand customer services?

cos i know that all the ones ive dealt with have been roughly the same :(

classic one was a vaux dealer who changed my cambelt but didnt do the water pump, even though its in their literature to change it at the mileage i was at. even after they did it and there was noise from the water pump they still werent going to sort it out. one even said we'll just take the belt off and sort the pump and just put the same cam belt back on ffs!!

My local fiat dealership is fantastic... probably because its a tiny family owned business.. very personal service, and they really go out of their way to accomadate you, had absolutley NO complaint about them yet... and as for fiat UK's warrenty's ect (the reason I left skoda, was because they wouldn't fix my suspension even though it was under warrenty) before I signed on the line for the fiat, i asked the owner, would you replace my suspension bushes under warrenty if they were shot after 80,000 miles, if the car was still within the warrenty, and he said of coure i would, if any of the suspension failed while under warrenty, it would be replaced... i said, even if it were rubber bushes, that "could" be classed as wear and tear? at which point he asked me to be quiet, and phones fiats warrenty department on speakerphone, so i could hear, and sai "er, if i had a GP with 80k on , but still within the two year unlimited mileage warrenty, and the suspension bushes were shot, could we replace them under warrenty? the man on the end of the phone said, of course, the mileage doesn't matter, its a two year UNLIMITED mileage warrenty, we would replace them for free no matter what the mileage if it was within 2 years of purchess.....

as for skoda, where I used to live in sheffield, there was a good dealership, was very happy with them (bickertons) but all the ones up here were terrible..

I've had mixed experiences with Skoda Customer Services.

On my Octy, I had dodgy wipers, and Parkside said they couldn't find any faults, despite me complaining several times that they wouldn't turn off. So I emailed Skoda CS, whom emailed me back with in 24 hours, and it seems they had contacted Parkside in this time too to find out what they'd done etc.

Which was nice.

The other time I dealt with them was when my gearbox went pop, they didn't answer my questions and were basically completely unhelpful. I asked the guy how long he'd expect a gearbox to last and his answer was he's not allowed to comment! Didn't even offer to speak to the dealer or anything!

Luckily Parkside being the decent garage they were repaired the vehicle fully under the supplied warranty!

We had a good experience with Honda. We sold a 4 year old low mileage FRV and it developed a top end rattle. Took it to a dealer and the camshafts were worn, we got the work done and then phoned Honda, who reimbusred us the cost of the camshafts which were around £800.

thank god theres some good serivces to be found out there! :)

ive gotta say that skoda dont seem to be alone with the bushes thing. vx and ford wouldnt sort that for my mums escort and friends vectra when they had similar issues. both practically said its down the to the way you drive!

SUK are useless. so are Vw customer service. The only car manufacturer that i have found to be absolute spot on is volvo.

Which is why next year ill be placing an order for a new S40 d5 geartronic sport :P

I took my case about them refusing to replace my console bushes to the relevant goverment department (some trading standards department, about honouring warrenties, selling goods fit for purpose ect ect) and he said I had an excellent case, and was going to help me take skoda to the small claims court to get my money back for my replaced console bushes......... (the number for these people is in the numbers pages in autoexpress)

UNTIL, he asked my occupation, and I said driving instructor, then he said I was classed a a business user, and it would get thrown out, but If I was a private user , I would have won! now that sucks.... I also can't get things like GAP insurance ect, and could find only ONE insurance company that would insure my remap! :(

Dead right. We needed new family wheels and I thought of an Octavia, then reconsidered it thinking back to the bother I had with the Fabia and SUK. Then went straight to Toyota.

  • 3 months later...

I have had the same faults on my Superb for 1.5 years. I forget how many times it has been to the dealers - but each time they fail to sort the faults and put more faults on the car or damage it.

The car is basically fantastic, but the dealers are crap (I have tried three). I wont be buying another Skoda - as in my experience, if the car develops a fault, it will have that fault for life. In my experience, Skoda do not provide a waranty.

I dont personally know any Skoda owner who is happy with the dealers. Every Skoda owner I know has said they will never buy one again.

BMW will be getting my money next time.
