Weather on 11th January

Featured Replies

Hi,

Took some photos on 11th January of the rain & snow that we had here in Bristol:

In respect of the abandoned Saab 93, why are people thick enough to drive through a flood like that? If you look at the other shots it is obvious that, had the driver looked at the height of the water in relation ot the bridge, he would never have got through it.

If you look at the middle shot of the top row, you can still see the hubcaps on that Saab. Look at the shots taken at 3:46pm and 3:50pm and the hubcaps have drowned in the flood.

Oo, not good! Floods AND snow :(

Was that from a river bursting a bank?

At least the Sabb will be nice and clean underneath

LOL. Yes it was.

The other laugh is that, at that location, the City Council have been doing flood prevention works! What a failure.

Oh dear! I they were pretty silly to attempt getting through there...

I went to blackpool on this day and the river there was about to burst its banks onto the road as the river was at the top of the flood defence and at the top of the wall either side of the road... at least id have got through in me bus!!! hehe

EDIT: Just seen... could they not have just used the bridge?????!!!!! hehe

Did they actually try and get through, I mean the roof of the Saab has ice on it. Are people sure it wasn't just parket up then moved by the waters?

My thoughts too, unless the car was parked up there for some other reason, but I would have thought the snow would have been first, turned to rain and then the floods?

Took me 3.5hrs to get from Bristol to Stroud on Friday Night

Quite certain. The shot of the Saab with ice on it was from my second trip there. I first saw that car around 1:35pm and the driver was there on this mobile phone, albeit not in the car.

On another note, I did later see a schoolbus successfully get through that flood. However the buses have vertically mounted engines, not horizontal.

Isn't the 93 a Vauxsaab rather than a Saabaru though?

Yep the Saabaru was a 9-2X IIRC and never made it over here (and didn't sell especially well in the States).... 9-3 had a lot of bits in common with the Vectra.
