im getting the vrs custom-coded

Featured Replies

well as a few of you know i havnt been on the forum very long and ive been asking a few questions about remapping etc....

well i rang JBS@chesterfield yesterday and spoke to a very helpful chap called mike.

i asked a few questions about the custom-code remaps, i had no intention of booking the car in as ive only had it just over a week and im getting the cambelt done today so im a bit on the skint side but he made me an offer i cant refuse :D

he said if you get it dont before the end of jan you will get 30% discount which works out at £320ish fitted for the custom-code phase 1  im booked in on the 26th which is 2 weeks today and i must say im very excited.

im already impressed with the performance of my vrs in standard form so whats it going to be like remapped????

he also said for £100 more i could have the pd160 pipe and green panel filter fitted which im tempted by but im not 100% sure as yet unless you lot can convince me otherwise that its REALLY worth it!

Make sure the torque is not too high or you will be paying for a new clutch soon ;)

If you like the performance now then you will love it after :D

the torque goes upto about 280lb/ft which isnt as much as some other generic maps but like you say i dont want to be paying out for a new clutch, ive been assured that the custom code stuff is very linear and smooth and wont be aggresive on torque delivery.

If this price is for the pipe, trumpet and panel filter fitted, it sounds like good value, based on the most recent UK prices I've seen quoted here, which would come to about 120 quid VAT inclusive.

The more upgrades you have fitted before the remap, the "better" the remap for your car.

You might also consider an exhaust change...

Don't forget to tell your insurer.

People forget the overall cost of a remap has to include this. :)

not alot i wouldnt have thought, my last car was a volvo v70 t5 quite modified and had 330bhp with 380lb/ft of torque with all mods declared it was only £100 more than a standard t5 for the year :)

Who are you insured with?

My vRS insurance went up by more than that a year when I declared the rear anti roll bar and uprated suspension bushes.

Direct Line aren't very 'mod friendly' though.

Sounds good - nice price on the remap

I'd include the PD160 and panel really - just a shame the PD160 parts prices have been increased by SEAT so much!! Will help performance by getting more air in, and should reduce smoke a little :)

aidrian flux, been with them since i started driving 3 years ago!

always had modified cars, cars with engine conversions, even nitrous and never had a problem

Well done on a good find with the price on the re-map.....:thumbup::thumbup:

As said earlier if the price for the PD160 & filter includes the trumpet, pipe and the Green panel filter then it's a good deal. The price of the trumpet & pipe is approx £75 from Seat and the Green filter is approx £35-40. You should really have em on the car if you have it re-mapped etc.... in my own opinion.

Cheers

Dave.

good price, and as someone else asid, if you like the performance now, you'll never stop smiling after the map! lol....

advice: try not to boot it from below 2,000 revs to preserve your clutch ;)

The custom code remap is great - not only does the car pull right to the red line, but it generally feels a lot smoother to drive. My only issue I have with it is the cost, but if you can get it for £320 then it is well worth it.

Also, did they mention it being switchable to you? Not sure if you can switch their Fabia remaps?

no mate there was no mention of a switchable map? i know that if i had VAG.COM then it can be turned on/off but other than that i have no idea? tbh it doesnt really matter im quite happy to leave it on :D

That's what I thought they told me, I'm going to give them a call later this week to find out whether it can be switched off using VAG-COM - would be good for warranty work, plus would like to switch back just to remember what it used to be like.

sorry mate but im working saturday morning till 12.30pm then im booked in @ 2.30 pm for the remap, will prob be there upto 2 hours and then im off home.

i will be at the next meeting though

hi mate i have the custom code stage one on mine and had it done at jbs the green filter and pd160 in my opinion made a big big difference on how the car pulled through the gears plus little or no lback smoke at the back...jbs are excellent mate i was lucky to get two for 1 on mine so mine was a bit less than yours however you are still getting a fantastic product and it completely makes the car and animal BUT with no insane torque spike so your cars components will be maintained good luck buddy
