Can't wait - revo ramp on Friday

Featured Replies

So I have the day off on Friday to travel 120 miles to get my revo remap done on my RS. Also getting the K&N 57i induction kit fitted. Also going to fit a Forge dv I have on order.

The tuner who has done loads of Gold GTI 180's says he regularly gets 210bhp and 240lbs torque and that is being conservative.

What is the max. I can expect out of my RS ?

Should I expect better / worse fuel economy. Currently averaging about 21-22mpg doing short trips around the city. A full tank gets me around 260 miles only !!

Also, how noisy is the forge valve ?

Finally - I was adviced by them to wait a week for a rolling road to be done, as I am told the ecu needs time to settle. Should I wait, or get one done on the day ? Perhaps drive 20 miles and come back and get the rolling road done.

Hi F, Martin in Westward is very good, he has alot of experience with the VAG unit, he also bulids engines for the abarth racing series in mondello and has a full workshop.. did he mention what figure yuo could expect with 95 ron (im assuming u dont use SUL) last time I spoke to him, he siad to expect around 210bhp

economy should'nt differ too much, maybe the extra torque could improve it but town driving sucks, glad to see someone else getting only that from a tank...

the KnN will be louder than the DV although u will here it more now... ;):D the intake roar will be great craic

i would drive it for the week, let it settle in, also gives u time to test the map during your normal routine, cold starts, traffic etc... just in case ;)

Cheers

I'll race you... Jabba on Friday :D

Yeah..he sounded fairly experienced all right when I spoke to him on the phone. Nice chap.

The program I'm getting will be just with normal 95RON. Happy enough with 210bhp :)

Don't think there is much point going beyond that, as I can't get hold of 98 here.

With 210bhp and 240lbs torque, would the 0-60 times and top speed be improved much. More importantly will the car pull harder when overtaking in 3rd ?

thx

I think it depends if it's a custom map or a standard map. With a custom one you can tell them what you want and where you want power delivery and they will map accordingly.

From talking to a few of the Jabba'd folks, it sounds like the results are a lot more mid-range grunt and power right to the red line :D

Chris

Third will definately pull a lot harder

Well... Flanno any news yet? how did it go? :D:D:D:D:D

Well just back. (240 mile round trip). Had to pop into work for a minute so said I would check the forums :)

Car feels amazing. Remap took about 20mins. Estimated poweroutput is 210bhp and 240lbs torue but is to be confirmed next Sat. when I go back for a dyno run (plus graph printout) and to have my forge dv put on. But right now, even with the ecu remap not fully 'bedded' in, 3rd feels like 2nd, and 4th like 3rd. The car really pulls, and sometimes you can feel the wheels losing grip a little :) We did a rough 0-60 from a standstill on the hardshoulder on the motorway. I reckon it's 6-6.2 seconds !

Needless to say I gave it a bit of welly on the way home :)

Will post the graph when I get the rolling road done. Probably Monday week.

Tuner wants to fit the K&N induction kit and is giving me a discount. 150euros including fitting. Not bad. About 25% off. What you reckon ?

Also, what about these replacement air intake pipes forge sell. Any good ?

Slippery isn't it this darn slope....

Glad you had a good blast, now just watch out for the garda and there new toys. The boys in blue over here are getting bored with them now so they are leaving them everywhere. Keeps dulux in business mind.

Now this pipe...well it's the single replacement pipe I think oyu refer to, where as the "first" version of this would be the turbo inlet. forge improved on this to make it an all in one.

So it should benefit, allowing a bettwe spool up, maybe a bit more grunt...hard to say on a stock exhaust system and airbox.

Re the inducation kit, only if you want it. It changes the sound of the car, amybe quiet, but it might be a deep growl. At the end of the day see that as "fluffy" mod. It will give you some gains, which will become more as you change things along the system, eg the inlet pipe and exhaust.

It will also accentuate your DV sound.

Hope that helps and I never saw one speed check in a fortnight of N7 to Galway and beyond bashing ;)

JEEBUS Flanno you sound well and truly hooked ;) we'll have to have another Irish meet to compare motors :D sound slike it was a good move, what was the all in price for the Revo and did you go for any extras? Dii martin say anything about 95 ronm/98ron fuel?

Cheers

Just the basic remap. Cost 499 sterling inc. vat and fitting. About 760 euros.

Did not bother with the more advanced programs due to lack of 98 octane where I live so did no bother to ask about them.

I fitted the Forge dump valve myself. And I am going up on Friday to have the K&N 57i induction kit fitted and a rolling road done. They are giing me a discount on the K&N. Basically no vat. So 150 euros plus about 30-40 for fitting.

In July I am going to get a complete new exhaust, free flow downpipe and cat fitted. Not sure if it's a Supersprint or another brand. 1200 inc. vat plus another 30-40 for fitting.

By the way I tested her over the weekend on my "private" road and she was still pulling at 140mph :)

I'm glad you are happy with it, that is what it is all about, regardless of tuner :D

thx mate, interesting to see the results as REVO is the only decent option here without getting the ferry! ;)
