vRS Change

Featured Replies

OK I am looking to change my car in Sept 08.

As Skoda have not announced a Mk2 Furby vRS, and this would have been my 1st choice I am now considering the following, depending on driving experience.

There are 2 categories i am thinking of, Sporty or Economy.

Here are ones that I quite like to consider.

Fiat 500 1.3 Mulitjet diesel

Seat ibiza 1.4 diesel eco.( like the polo bluemotion, and would be interested if Skoda do a Furby version)

Fiat Punto Sporting 1.9 D

Pug 307 diesel.

Anyone any other suggestions ( reasonably sensible) :)

Did ya see the Raik Vs Massa Vs Schu in Fiat 500s!! on you tube

YouTube - WROOM FIAT CHALLENGE 500 PT1

I had a loan car of the 1.2HTP Furby, nice car to drive

IIRC James May said you're better off getting a Panda over the Fiat 500 as it's cheaper, bigger and better equipped, but he might just be saying that because he has one

Is diesel a must have for the Sporty category?

Chris

for the price of the 1.9JTD GP sporting, you could get an Arbarth 500, that would be nice.... 1.4 turbo 120bhp..... the 1.4t-jet 180 bhp, would be more expensive!

Seat ibiza 1.4 diesel eco.( like the polo bluemotion, and would be interested if Skoda do a Furby version)

:)

Im looking at the Seat Ibiza Ecomotive as well as the Polo as the next replacement car, but the price for basic spec Polo (The one that is zero road tax rated) is something around £12K. It would be nice if the eco diesel engine was introduced into the Fabia 2 range at sometime.

Sure I read in a car mag they were planning on one ?

The 500 Diesel for economy, but I had thought about the Arbath version as sporty, but was reading that the smallest 135BHP version is going to be over 14K, the 155BHP version around 17k mark, so ruled these out as too expensive.

I have a pricelist and 500 bible from a dealer and speced up my preferred car of a 1.3 sport and it comes out at close to 12.5K ( with leather and uprated 16" alloys).

Suzuki Swift Sport? New list £11.600 can get low mileage ex-demos for as little as £8500 !

Fabia 1.9 tdi sport.

Just add Lowered suspension and a Remap, Job Done

You can get a brand new GP Sporting for around 10k, or wait for the Abarth version. Panda 100 HP is around 8.5K

Alternatively you could look at Peugeots 207GTI 175THP which can be had new for around 12-13k

Not bad suggestion for the 207GTi, and already had GP sprting diesel as an option.

The Fabia sport option had crossed my mind, a rough calculation of springs and remap would put price 13.5 - 14K

why not keep the car for a wee while longer ?

The 307 has just been replaced by the 308, hasn't it?

Interesting, about the greenline, MPG claims are less that the seat version of 74 mpg, Skoda claim 69 mpg, VW claim 70, but the co2 claims on VW are 102 compared to 110 for Skoda and Seat claims of 99 or 119.(depending on model)
