iirc swapping tyres over they reckon you should cross corner? so be carefull if your tyres have a directional tread pattern. Will also mean you end up with a bill to replace all 4 at once.

Good stuff, cheers guys. Only thing is none of the sites (camskill or blackcircles.com) have those Falken 452s (could only find the 451s) so think i'll prob go for the Toyo T1Rs from Blackcircles for £150odd for both fitted

I think this is because Falken don't offer it in the Fabia size and I'm guessing the chap who recommended them has 17" wheels on his Fabia. Toyo's are a good choice in your fitment and make sure you get the T1-R and not T1-S :D

I do this as it means I can go longer between tyre changes and some tyre fitters offer a healthy discount for 4 tyres bought together.

Chris

I think I'd rather change all 4 at once, rather than try and remember when each pair was last replaced. I've got the OEM Turanza's on, dunno if they are directional.

(and this thread reminds me that I should check our other car before we book it in for a service/MOT soon)

You been running yours without ASR on a track?! 4,000 miles!!! That would be 3/4 sets a year for me!

As I said, the poor car was an ex-demo and it was something I noticed on purchase..

So probably didn't have ASR on for 2500 miles and Wales' roads were the racetrack ;)

I will never drive a car on legal minimum tread or just above - especially something as torquey as the VRs. Legal tread minimum is far too low in my opinion - I can feel them squirm well above this level.

Anyone else had Kumhos on their VRS and compared it to any others?

Rightio, have ordered my tyres from Black Circles to have fitted at my local place on Wednesday...was thinking about taking the black plastic caps off the wheel nuts before i go down just to make it a little easier for them (i have my reasons...!), how do i get them off?

I had a look in the spare wheel and found the locking wheel nut key and what appears to be a bit of metal with a hole on one end (for a finger?) and a 90 degree bent bit of metal at the other end...entire thing is about an inch and a half/2 inches long. Is that what i use to remove the caps? Just stick it round the back of them and pull them off?!

yep that thing takes the caps off

Depends. It's usually down to a personal preference. I founf the sidewalls on the F1's to be a bit soggy.

GSD-2's or GSD-3's?

There the GSD-3's bad or good??

I ran the F1's on my fabia..... they were recommended by my local tyre place, as they fit them on plod's imprezza patrol cars!

very good tyre wet or dry.. ESPECIALLY on a hot dry road, grip is amazing... this leads me onto my next point, useless when it gets below freezing... don't even try to drive on snow in them... 0 celcius or below, on a 'normal' road , be very carefull.......

and although i didn't really experiance the above posters thoughts, there have been many people who have said, they have a soft sidewall (example of a hard sidewall, v.good turn in , bridgestone potenza)

but, do I remember you saying you put two on the back? sidewall not a problem then :)

yes i have put them on the back, the fronts are wearing low at the minute too and will need replaced within 1000 miles (hopefully after my eibachs and cupra bushes are on) so i can get it tracked and aligned etc, i'll have to put them on the front also as i like them to match. I know there on the back at the minute but had a little blast today and found them pretty good - looking forward to having them on the front too

as winters ending, It'll be a good choice im sure, the falcons are a good allround tyre, but i think you'll find the F1's better, especiall if you have all 4 matched

wish i knew this cost me 230 for michelins front only

Did you carry out ANY research brfore your purchase?

Half an hour searching BRISKODA would have supplied you with a wealth of other owner's opinions.

My Experiances exactly. They are lethal in the cold and completely useless in the snow.

Me too.

I've never been too impressed by toyos, falkens or any other medium range/budget tyres.

I would only ever fit premium tyres to my car, after all we spend a fair whack on the car itself and it's the only part of the car that connects you to the road. Replacing old good tyres(contis) with new toyos will make the toyos feel better. If you fitted new contis then i bet you'd be even more impressed though.
