Need to change the front tyes on my Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

I've been happy with the falkens - got the receipt from the previous owner for when they went on.

So far they've lasted 12,000 with minimal to no signs of wear.

I got 18.5k miles of spirited driving out of my FK452's. Looked into other tyres that are recommended, but nothing comes close for the money. :D

Morning guys, following up on this i've got some quotes:

STS Tyres, can get 10% discount:

Bridgestone ER30 - £178 for both all in (£160 with discount).

Michelin Exalto - £238 for both all in (£215 with discount)

Hi-Q, can get 15% discount:

Faulder (some German make he said) - £168 all in (but can't get discount as already on offer)

Michelin Pilot - £254 all in (£216 with discount).

Pirelli P7000 - £199 all in (£173 with discount).

Kwik Fit, no discounts:

Michelin Pilot - £278 all in.

None have or can get hold of the Toyo T1-Rs as suggested...so, should i keep phoning around or are there some OK choices there? I was thinking of either the Pirelli P7000's or the Michelin Pilots from Hi-Q for about £100 each?

I take it nobodies too impressed with my list of quotes...i'm not overly happy with them either but isn't much i can do. Think i'll just bite the bullet and shell out the £200 odd for the Michelins unless anyone has any other suggestions?

Try etyres.co.uk they have Toyo,s for £84.90 each fitted.:)

Iv just put falkons on mine and so far so good! Cheaper than the toyos and should last abit longer (i hope!)

I like the support for the falcons... because after some internet research, I think they will be next on the front of my car.... and jasc1988's car seemed to go ok in the rain on Sunday ;)

silly question - what's the general consensus on how long a set of tyres should last?

Is it 10k?

Anything between 4k and 30k,depending on your "enthusiasm",and if you drive in a "spirited" manner.

It be a bit ****ed of if they only lasted 4k! Im sure it would have been a fun 4k tho!

Depends which Pilot they are. The Pilot Primacy's are dire (imho) and the Pilot Sports are good, but I think you can get equivalent performance for a lot less money. I've used Event Mobile Tyres - Your Local Mobile Tyre Fitting Service in the past and they are mobile fitters who offer discounts for pairs of tyres and come highly recommended.

the fulda extremo although it sounds like a gay make is a very very good tyre, i work for goodyear/hiq and we sell the fulda as a branded make

id be more than happy to put them on my fabia vrs.

The 451's are the old tyres. The 452's are the ones you want :D

Chris

i got goodyear egale 1's on the front £70 a go but unreal grip in the wet and damp

Ok, so i'm definately liking the idea of buying tyres and then paying a local place a few quid to fit and balance them for me...so if i go for the Toyo T1Rs (although i notice there is a T1S which is apparently better? Cannot seem to find them in the right size though), is the following link alright for my vRS?

TOYO TYRES / CAR / TOYO T1R PROXES TOYO T1 R - - Car Tyres - MPV Tyres - People Carrier Tyres - R16" - 205/45/16, 205/45 R 16 -

Only thing is, they say 87W but my current tyres say 83W? Any other recommendations of tyre that are available on that site? Has anyone else used that site and can confirm they're reputable?

Edit: What about these? They would be about £140 in total but even after fitting still a LOT cheaper than i was looking at! Goodyear Eagle F1s

GOODYEAR TYRES / CAR / GOODYEAR F1 GSD3 EAGLE GOODYEAR F 1 GSD 3 - 205/45R16 83W : £74.00 : Car Tyres - MPV Tyres - People Carrier Tyres : R16" - 205/45/16, 205/45 R 16 -

Thanks :)

87/83 are the load ratings of the tyre and 87 means it is more capable than 83, largely down to the reinforced sidewall which will translate to less tyre deformation under cornering and sharper turn in.

Falken 452's if ride quality/comfort is high on your list of attributes. I'm not joking when I say the ride was so much better than previous it was as if the dampers had been renewed. They're also good in wet and dry but I don't drive near the limits TBH. Previous tyres were Michelin Pilot Exalto which I was quite pleased with, until experiencing the 452's.

Try blackcircles.com, I got my Pirelli Pzero Neros for my front wheels from them, £166 all in.

You pay blackcircles and they send the tyres to a local, approved independant who fit / balance them for you. Ordered them on the Thurs and the selected garage fitted them for me on Sat morning.

Fully fitted selection

Don't Goodyear own Fulda? Im pretty sure they used to make the compound for those tyres in Wolves.

Decent tyres if you don't want to pay top wack.

I must drive like a Granny, then, cos I'm on 11k, and the tyres are still completely fine.

Good stuff, cheers guys. Only thing is none of the sites (camskill or blackcircles.com) have those Falken 452s (could only find the 451s) so think i'll prob go for the Toyo T1Rs from Blackcircles for £150odd for both fitted etc...

Agreed?!

furball needs fronts after 16k miles oem contis, not bad reading this thread as it as been round ring and done a few '000 continental driving. Thinking of replacing them with PZero Nero £160 for the pair fitted. SWMBO needs 4 new boots on the octy (rears due to slow puncture) after 12k miles gentler driving little dissapointed really going with the Falken 452 £320 for the 4 fitted :)
