what happens though if you think you buy a standard car but its already been re-mapped etc and the previous owner doesnt tell you, how would that go?

I am also thinking about getting my vRS remapped, and asked a very knowledgable local mechanic about Mobil 1 for both the time being and after the remap, and he reckoned that it too thin for standard engines, and attacks seals. Which happened to him on a race prepared engine. Which has put me off using it totally...............

Poppycock! I was a lab technician for Castrol for 16 years.

at the moment the people i have spoken too who check cars (couple of mate work at repair shops and asked the inspectors, they don't check for a remap.

However with threads like this its only a matter of time before they cotton on. A lad crashed his corsa and because he'd put lexus lights on the insurance company were not going to pay out!!!!

How that affects the drivng i have no idea would have thought it would only be an issue if it was nicked!! not that anyone would want corsa lexus lights!!!

The fact of the matter is Insurance companies don't want to pay out and will do all they can not too! i would not givethem any chance too!
