Well, it says it all in the title really...

I am in the fortunate position to have just qualified for our company car scheme which means I get a car on a fully maintained 3 year lease and I have to pay a contribution calculated based on my marginal tax rate, emmissions and various other bits and bobs

Anyway I could go for an 2.0L TDI L&K Octy at 160 quid a month or an elegance with the same engine which would cost me a measly 94 a month

When I thought about it I figured that I would add some extras to the elegance, leather, light assistance, black magic finish so this bumps up the cost to £146 a month

Then a spotted the columbus satnav so that's another £40 a month...

So L&K for £200 or elegance with extras for £186?

I would be interested to hear opinions from those who have gone for either of these options and then with hindsight thought they should have gone th eother way

Also - full leather versus alcantra, and what paint finish combo? would be interested in seeing various pictures if any of you have them as L&K or leather in an octy is not something I've been able to find at local dealers so far

I Think if I was going for the sport look and drive I'd go with the VRS....which I don;t think I am!

Anything in particular you like about cars? Are you an interior and gadget person or an exterior and sporty person? Or both maybe?

Some people are happy to have lower models and spend money on spoilers, wheels , suspension etc whilst others want the full works inside - leather, toys etc

Total no-brainer, go for the L&K with the Columbus sat nav, if it's a combi then chuck the sunset privacy glass on as well.

I guess so long as it looks smart...I'm not that keen on the sporty looks of the VRS - in no way do I think its a bad car, but the looks never really did much for me personally and I certainly don't need the sporty drive and the extra bhp

I'm more interested in the comfort factor..and the gadgets...hosenstly who's not interested in the gagdets?!

....but I think I could get what I'm after with both models, just not sure whether the L&K is worth the extra even though its not much different for me cost wise...although I hear most of you saying go for the L&K so far!

..part of me thinks the more gadgets I have the more there is to go wrong....but then again maybe I shouldn;t worry as I'll have that fully maintained lease!...

trying not to offend anyone here, so please don;t take this the wrong way anyone.....but does anyone think the light leather looks...well....poncey & pretentious?....as I've not seen it in the flesh it is a little difficult to judge I have to admit!

They are more blue/grey than that in real life. A bit like a light blu tac sort of colour if you will. I can take some more pics in better light tomorrow if you wish but you will need to clap eyes on them for yourself to accurately gauge the colour.

From a personal point of view I love the colour and so does everyone else who gets in the car.

...I think gordon lamb at chesterfield has a few L&K in stock, so will make a trip up there at some point

The 17" look better than the standard alloys. The sports suspension is included as standard.

You'll just have better looking wheels

I went the elegance route and have:

Multi function wheel inc Maxidot

Xenons

TPM

Curtain airbags

17" pegasus wheel inc sport suspension

I'm going to stick my neck out a little here;

IMVHO I think the standard ride on the Octavia is more than sufficient, the sport suspension is a little too hard (I know, I had an Elegance with it) and it makes the 'jiggles' more pronounced. The only thing I liked was the lowered ride height (20mm?)- pimped!

The Pegasus alloys are very nice and If possible I would have swapped them with the Sputniks fitted as standard on the L&K. Failing that, opt for the 18 inch B14's :drool:

I fancy the black magic finish so not sure if the whole thing wil be a bit dark....I needs to see one

I did have some photos on my much earlier thread and I just looked for them - forgot I took the photos off photobucket so they are no longer there! I'll pop a couple on here later - I have the black paint and black leather and I like it but each to their own!

well I managed to see a black magic L&K with light leather interior this lunch time - it was nice, but strangely I thought it seemed a little "bohemian" for a VAG car!

...personally I have some reservations about how long the look might remain fashionable for and whether my initial "ooo, that's classy!" reaction would remain over a period of time.

I'm starting to think, like clothes, you generally can;t go wrong with black.

I also saw a black superb with black leather (full leather admittedly) and really digged the "business-like" feel...I dunno, it just seemed a bit more "serious"....

I'm probably rambling now and not making much sense, but those are my first impressions and thoughts anyway.

So after all this I'm now thinking Octy New L&K 2.0L TDI, black magic, alcantra interior, +columbus sat nav

oooh, excellent choice of spec.

I'd love an L&K, dark interior and probably in antracite or navy :drool:
