TIP, TT arch vent and splitter fitted

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

Speant most of the day putting these on. First off the TIP, this was the THS from ebay for £81.

Looked ok but when putting the bottom vacuum pipe on the nipple at the bottom the nipple actually pushed through so I ended up having to jubilee clip both sides (I might email the guy and possibly get a refund for a black one as I'm worried it's not going to stay on properly!).

The TIP took around 1 1/2 hours with a mates help.

My main concern is that it touches a metal coolant pipe halfway down... after a drive home it seems fairly hot. I'm guessing this must happen to all aftermarket silicone TIPS tho?

The TT vent was a bit of a pain, fiddly is nothing else.. but looks fairly good now.

The splitter went on nice and easy, looks sweet too I Think ;)

That is all

Any pics of the arch vent?

Sorry, this is the only one I took. I'll try and take a better one when it's light!

Turn the wheel in Ethos and give us a proper look.

Did the forge dv fit the Tip ok and does it rest on the vac box?

All looks good, you have been busy.

I did my arch liner with a snap on air drill and holesaw!

I'll take one tomorrow at work and post it up, tis too dark now and my phone is useless!!

Yep the dv / n75 etc... fitted fine after a little tweaking. I'll take a proper pic with the cover off tomorrow as well.

Was a little disappointed when I pushed the nipple through :(

Does yours touch the coolant pipe? I'm guessing it has too really as theres nowhere else for it to go :D

So does the arch mod allow better air flow through the intercooler?? Does it come with some sort of pipe kit or do you need to just cut the liner??

Cheers

Yep, it just allows more airflow around the intercooler as theres no air flow at all really.

You just cut the vent out of a tt arch liner (or some use a vent from b&q alot cheaper) cut a hole on the vRS liner and rivet the vent onto it.

Silicone pipes are made to withstand high temps,i wouldnt worry about it.

Sounds good to me, was a tight fit. Does yours touch too?

I've heard it takes a little while for the ecu to learn the new air values...

Just looked, yes mines a bit squashed.

Loving the splitter! Just made my mind up for me think im going to get one. Fancy helping me fit it?

Yeah think a splitter is the next mod.

A bit off topic but how come youv'e only got 16" wheels?

Some early vRS models came with 16s. Or the dealer has been snide and swapped them over from an estate!

Splitter is the best mod for the ££ that I think you can do. Well pleased with mine.

Will have to nip to B&Q then and find a vent. Do you have the approx size needed??

Cheers

I wouldn't bother buying a vent or screwing anything onto the liner. I just used a dremel like tool and cut some slats into my arch liner. Take the liner out first, it's quite easy, you'll be able to see how much needs to vented as you can line it up with the intercooler.

Any pictures?? sounds a good idea.

I haven't, but I can... one day! I'm moving house and my PC is in a box, I have pics on there!

I wanted it to look as OEM is possible.

The slits / b&q look does not do this!!!!

Each to their own, but I think my slats look a lot more OEM than your screwed/riveted on vent.

Dan,

As your pics are hidden, Could you describe the approx size etc of your slats please. Might try this first and if I **** it up I can fit a vent.

Cheers

Let me see if I can get a pic on my mobile and get it onto my laptop....

The holes that have been put in mine in a rectangular shape look OEM. Free too! Theyre probably 15-20mm or so.

Admitedly, I could have done mine a lot tidier, but I think if you marked our a bit more carefully and cut carefully this would be the most OEM looking finish. I did start by making slices and trying to heat the liner and pull louvres out. Didn't really work so I cut slats out instead. You can see where I'd tried the luvre at the top of the vent.
