Confused about buying a Yellow 07 plate vrs

Featured Replies

Hi to anyone thats reading this

I just wanted to see what people think about the postion im in.

I curently have a 55 plate RED Fabia vrs (only had it for a month) it cost me £7995 (45k miles on clock). I really wanted a yellow one at the time. Im well happy with it, BUT when i was looking at buying a vrs (about a month back) i noticed a yellow one with the rally sticks on it, i loved it (as im a hug rally fan) but it was gone off the Skoda website before i had time to look at it.:(

But my Skoda centre called me saying its back in (it was sent to Gillingham where it wasnt sold).

Its an 07 plate with 6.5k on clock in yellow with the CRT stickers on it. Its up for £10,000.

Im going to look at it Saturdy.

I pay £170 per month at the mo and dont wan to pay much more but think i may need new shocks on my current vrs soon.

So what to do?? I would like your feedback.

Sounds like a good price depending if there are any options fitted. I love the yellow :D

I suspect you will be hit hard on the PX value of yours but then the fact that the Yellow one didn't sell might be in your favour.

Hmmm...

I would list down all the 'fors' and all the 'againsts' and weigh them up. I guess for is that the car is a lot newer and it is the colour you want. Against is the fact that I am guessing you'll be trading you're red one back in, and by so doing will lose significant money after only a month.

Did your red one come from a dealer? If so, that is a VERY good price, even if they would class 45k on the 'high' side. If they sold it for £8k, they'd probably offer you £7k to buy it back... so, you'd need to stump up another £3k for the yellow one.

Now...

The yellow one shouldn't really cost you much other than servicing over the next few years and will have loads of warranty left... the red one might need a few bits doing.. doubtful if this will add up to £3k (+interest).

Still... when it comes to cars, it is often easier to follow your heart than your head...

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Got me red one from a dealer.

Wait till you've seen it in flesh and had a test drive in it. Then talk money and see if you can afford extra monthly payment after px yours. Yellow is nice.............

Got me red one from a dealer.

More or less than a month ago, since you have 1000 miles or 30 days to change your mind....

See what it is like in the flesh mate, when I went to view mine I was not expecting to pay the price for mine (I was after a red vrs one of the firston a 53 plate) but there was none and the 05 plate yellow vrs applealed to me even through it was about £1000 more than I was prepared to pay but it was my heart that made me call the garage and ask about the yellow one and I'm glad I did.

I'm more of buy from a heart person.

Get it, its what you first wanted. You'll always be thinking about the yellow one if you dont.

Love the yellow, proper shouts look at me hehe!!

Explain to the salesman what you want and see if he can come close.

Keep us posted

waited a year to get my 2nd hand octy vrs, because i wanted a red one with elec sunroof, go for it mate, but you will get bumped on trade in i suspect

I think the yellow is a bit of a marmite colour and this might help you if you decide to buy as it's clearly not walking off the forecourt. Obviously, it may be the same come resale time, but that's less of an issue now. :D

I'd recommend working out a budget of cost-to-change and going and looking and driving the car. If you like it, then haggle hard and make sure you get a good deal :D Shocks for your current car will be significantly cheaper than changing the car ;)

Let me just say, if it was the one in the Basildon Dealer ;) The Stickers are abit poor in there style and application, Also the Gillingham garage is a VW dealer first.

Also only about 2 miles from the offical Skoda dealer in the area.

Not sure how much a VW dealer will give you in p'ex.

Yes mate it is the Baz one it was sent to the Gillingham Garage for a customer then they didnt want it so its gone back to the Baz garage.

Have had my Red one for just over the month now so cant take it back :(.

The next nearest yellow vrs i can find (apart from the one at the Baz garge) is 137 miles away.

Also my red one now has a new problem. Is eating head light bulbs! I have had the car for just over a month now and have already put 4 new headlight bulbs on it and driving home form work last night one went again!

Thanks everyone for your feedback, thanks for your time

If you do go for it I reckon your monthly payment will be around £235.00 over 5 years.

Thats based on them giving you around £7K for your Fabia.

Thats a big jump on what you are paying now and you said you didnt want to go much higher. IMHO I would stick with the red one.

So i went to see it and........................................ didnt get it!

The price they where offering as a part ex was crap

And the monthly price they offered my was over £100 more a month then im paying now.

Oh well im still happy with my red one, didnt think anything would be as fun to drive as the Clio Cup i had but the Fabia vRS beats it hands down and of corse its not French

Thanks for all your feed back

Wow that must have been a sh1te part ex price they offered:eek:

My sums were just a quick calculation, I was trying to be optimistic but an extra £100 a month is taking the proper pee:thumbdwn:

Oh well at least you tried. They look great in red, I had one in that colour and loved it. Now get it remaped and go enjoy:D

OMG, thats hideous imho!

That looks proper awful. You had a lucky escape!

I feel sick. Yellow and skoda green don't go to well together.

That does look terrible but on a silver car it would look a whole lot better.

might be better on a white car.. not on yellow though

A 55 plate has a warrenty for shocks and light problems.

Are you using quality bulbs and I take it you are not touching the glass of the bulb. If that is the case get the dealer to look at it.
