Fitting Forge DV on RS

Featured Replies

So went to fit my dv this evening and wouldn't you know it, the jubillee clips on the stock dv are the fit once type and I didn't have any spare ones on me.

Any idea what size I need. It looks like 3 clips, 3 different sizes ?

thx

2 off around 25-30mm diameter and one tiewrap pulled tight will do fine.

To remove the old ones, just prise up the "loose" end with a small screwdriver until it pops off the hooks.

Small top hose will pull off & slide onto the new DV without cutting the clip.

The 2 big clips will have to be replaced though ;)

If its a Forge 007p fit it around the other way so that the small boost pipe is side on and not at the top...............makes more noise and still works the same.

You did'nt get clips with the Forge DV?

Still very dubious about this.

If its around the other way wont boost pressure be acting on the bottom of the piston thus pushing it up against the spring, if boost overcomes spring strength the DV becomes a wastegate.

I totally agree with you on this Ross.

Spring kits then get used to make the DV push harder on the piston, taking more effort to pull back under vacuum...

Not something I advise.

You could always stick with the OE one. If it is faulty go get a new one under warranty, FOR FREE and they fit it and you don't get your hands dirty. Got to be the best one on the market. BTW it's not the Diverter Valve that makes the noise it's the filter type unless it's a Dump Valve (dumps air to atmosphere), which Doesn't really work on the RS.

what do you mean when you say "its the filter type" ??

we talking air filters now ??

BTW the DV have been tested by someone (cant remember who now) and all the forge and bailey ones were proven to work better fitted the right way round, the way i see it is if its supposed to be fit one way and you fit it another just cause it sounds louder your wasting your own money cause your defeating the purpose of the valve.

That'll be Mr. Tam

Thats right the air filter.

Diverter valves don't make noises, it's the air rushing through the air filter and the higher the flow rate through the filter the louder the noise.

that'll explain the noise that the cars make with CAI then... i take it the standard airbox muffles the noise so replacing the standard filter with something like a green panel filter wont change things ??

Well fitted the Forge myself yesterday evening.

Easy enough except it was very hard to get off one of the jubilee clips.

The one at the bottom of the oem valve. Took ages. All is well now, and the new valve seems to have more bite to it. But really I cant feel any difference when driving. Managed to drop a screwdriver bit into the engine bay though, near the gear box :( Not sure if it shook loose when driving. Hopefully it wont cause any damage if it didn't.

So getting the rolling road done on Friday (did the revo last week).

Will I get the K&N induction kit or not ? Decision time ?

Total cost will be approx 190-200 euros including fitting ?

How much noisier will the car be - will it sound like a boyracers car ?

How much torque and bhp could I potentially get ?

Is it easy to clean and oil ? And how often ?

You might a little more noise due to the filter being freer flowing.

I seem to remember there was airbox mode which include drilling holes in it to get more of that "pstsh" noise.

i'm not really bothered about the noise TBH, was just trying to clarify things before i decide whether to get the green panel filter or not. i did see the benifits of taking the veins out of the inside of the airbox though, cant remember who posted that mod up.

Re the K&N filter, with an induction kit you will have a little more roar to the car when under load or going for it and yes i suppose you could class this as boy racer'ish

Yes it is fine to fit the valve the other way round. Our valves will work both ways.

:thumbup:Had this reply today from Forge:P so there:D

 Phil

Might be totally wrong about this but..

Wouldn't a remapped car have a noisier DV due to the increased boost pressure from the turbo??

Cue the experts!

Yes Si it will :D

so forge valves are bi then !!??

:naughty:

hmmm... the pic doesnt show up on the post DaveU...
