Depends on your level of cover and what you want.

I'm just on Roadside and recovery from RAC vehicle cover only and I paid £75.

sorry should have said ..for £89 you get roadside / home / recovery

vehicle and upto 8 people / onward travel inc replacement car for 48hrs

european support ...... so I reckon its a no brainer:D and thats with

skoda and the RAC

Tesco Breakdown (backed by Green Flag) is about 65 quid and includes everything bar the European cover. Used them a couple of times and had prompt and excellent service from them.

The other one to look at is ADAC - Ihr Partner in allen Fragen rund um die Mobilitt. (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club) - Mitgliedschaft - Pannenhilfe - Routenplaner - Tests - Versicherungen - Kreditkarten - Finanzierungen - Autovermietung which is significantly cheaper, but you need to contact them to arrange getting payment to them.

  • 3 years later...

My renewal with the AA is up end of December so i rang up to see how much it would be for the next 12 months. Now i get Roadside recovery, Relay Plus and home start which they said would be £169.68. I then said i will call around trying to find other deals before renewing my membership which i have had for 26 years and always had a good service from them.

When i said i am looking around for a better price the guy said if he can give me a bit of a discount, he then came back with a price of £92 saving me £77. Now why couldn't he of given me that price in the first place before ringing around.

I had similar last year, except that they were so busy they couldn't respond to my e-mails. I cancelled my direct debit with them, let my membership lapse for a day, joined Quidco and went through there to join the AA at a substantial saving.

Presently there is an offer on through Quidco (which will probably have expired by the time you read this) of £60 cash back on all policys over £100. Putting your above level of cover into the AA website brings back a premium of £135 for personal cover, which will be £75 with the cashback offer. As Quidco take £5 on the first time that you've used them, you can still save £12.

Looks like I'll be doing the same again this year.

Skoda assistance is cheaper at 89 for a year or cheaper if you have 2years.

Also top service from them, euro cover and skoda/vw technicians.

Just realised that after i replied!

May be old but still relevant and quite useful for those who think the only option is the AA or RAC.

I use Britannia which gives all the bells and whistles and covers my wife and I on all vehicles we have (2 cars and 1 bike) without having to fork out for various different policies. Think it cost about £120.

Skoda Assistance does sound good though if they use VAG specialist recovery agents.

Another  for Britannia Rescue. I've been with them for years and always had excellent service from them. When we went to France this year it was cheaper for me to extend my cover to their Full Service as it was to take out seperate European cover elsewhere, especially as it included the caravan.

Although the Skoda Rescue is good it doesn't include European repatriation.
