as long as it is mapped right, then the GT2x should be fine.

Not really worth it, this conversion for an extra 25-30 hp.

You might aswell go one step further, and it'll cost you a couple of hundred more.

Rear arb and powerflex dogbone mount(helps eliminate wheel hop) are a couple of mods i would do straight away.

:iagree:

...well it depends on how you look at this, realistically you will get 270bhp and around 290lbs/ft torque whilst from a re-mapped K03s you will actually only get around 225 - 230 and a max of 260-270lbs/ft torque but the K04 will hold the power higher up in the range and develop more torque lower down making for an overall much quicker car. There are quite a few running the K04 Hybrids at around this level on SCN and the general opinion is from these guys that the K04 car IS much better than the k03. I know that there will be those who post about having 250bhp and xxx torque from the k03...it just wont do it, its too small, the variance in figures generally comes from optimistic tuners and 'pub talk'

As for just spending a couple of hundred extra for a 'proper' big turbo, you will pay £1k + over the K04 for anything else, I think Jaymd found a turbo for £650+vat whic was a K03/K04 Hybrid, the GT2x is over a grand and suffers badly from Lag and reliability issues ( look at the US sites, they seem to be offloading these all over the place) APR, JBS, Impossible etc all offer the next stage but at a price, typically £1500 for the turbo vs £200-300 for the K04 if you look around on ebay for a decent one, I got the turbo, Oil and water lines, manifold, injectors, Blueflame LCR DP/Cat and, Fuel pump all in for under £700 and the turbo has only done 3k Miles.

Anyone who has driven or been taken out in a remapped LCR will confirm that they are very quick road cars once mapped, realisticaly 280-300 bhp is a s far as you can go on a reliable road car without starting modding the drivetrain and getting into some serious expense otherwise the power will be all but wasted shredding tyres and clutches........just my opinion and experience!:)

£2K + VAT!!!!! Sod that for a game of soldiers!!!!!

I don't know what kind of figures your getting LOL but your in a dream world? I owned a remapped LCR, and they NEVER get anywhere near 270bhp remapped, and 300? What rolling road are you using?

You don't need to talk to me about K04 tuning, as I've been there, done that.

Also, your figures for the K03s turbo are made up aswell.

I mean, 230 bhp, 270-290 lbs of torque from just a remap?

You'll be lucky to see 250 on a K04 turbo, with loads of mods added to it!

Are you talking whp figures?

No, Flywheel bhp.

Are you talking whp figures?

im not sure what he's talking but clearly there must be alot of liars on this board - me included - if you cant get 240 from a k03 and 280 from a k04...

Please, post up graphs of 280 bhp flywheel figres, from K04 engined cars.

You've only got to go to JKM's rolling road, and .. Awesome GTi's to see.

Show me, on either of those sites... a K03s turbo making 240, and a K04 making 280?

Please please please..... Oh, and the K04 on the LCR at Awesome's is a Hybrid. ;)

From my limited time in the VAG world i will state the following.

240 bhp & 260-270 lb ft is possible from a K03s

280 bhp & 300 lb ft is possible from a K04

all with fmic, exhaust etc...these figures are at the flywheel.

Figure will go up/down depending on the rolling road.

I am no expert but i would say your figurs may be pos at the Flywheel but def not at the wheels. unless you go to a RR that is stiched up to make there maps look better than they are.

IMO

you will be telling me that painting your bonnet black cures the lack of torque of a type-r next

man lookin at that there is a lot of power lost.

how is that rectified so minimum power is lost gettin to the wheels?

not far off,I would imagine 230bhp maybe obtainable. That is a very high torque output do you know what psi you are running and has the turbo gone bang yet?

Mine is almost the same spec as Alans, and i got 230bhp/250ft.lb, all beit at Jabba.

Still to be RR'd up here in Scotland though.

We've been down this road before, where the flywheel figures are stupidly high, and huge transmission losses. Which is obvioiusly inaccurate ;)
