advice on k04 upgrade on vRS

Featured Replies

and this is from a guy who has 220bhp and 249lbft of TORQUE that is very quick indeed ;)

In the past it has run 238bhp and 256 ft torque, again on proper rollers, but this time at JKM we were trying a map alteration with a different N75 to get the torque to stay in for longer, so not too upset with figures., especially as I trust the rollers at JKM and Marlins.

I think a boost controller is next on the list.

Not too sure yet Mike, still looking at a couple from the States. Need it as I'm still getting a small spike at the start of the run which is obviously robbing me a bit of bhp and I would like to smooth out.

I didnt mind mind losing a bit of BHP on the run at JKM, as I want to get the torque to hold right across the rev band.

Will PM you with some links and options on the BC.

cheers fellas

didnt expect that much interest in the thread.

the fella i am buying the turbo from says that the k04 023 i think it is will fit directly in place of the k03s.

one thing i didnt notice is, can I put the injectors and turbo on myself and drive the car to have it mapped?

seen as I am doing the turbo I might as well do the injectors, mod the wing for better air flow and get a cat back system. if it is pos to get 240 250 out of that with a nice smooth map then thats fine.

dont think ill need a new clutch jus yet coz i dont drive hard, only want the power to be there for over-takin and gettin out of trouble lol

cheers fellas

get a turbo back system.

and i'd not fit the injectors until it gets mapped, and drive off boost.

what do you meen drive off boost?

does it need the turbo back or can it wait?

while you're spending £xxx on a turbo, and then going to have it mapped, you might as well save yourself the hassle of having the remove the exhaust again, and the cost of a remap by getting the downpipe when you fit the turbo.

driving off boost because if you go on boost, you will not have the right amount of the fuel for the boost pressure, as all the points on the map will be for a K03s, not a K04.

thanks but what does that meen?

do i have to drive at less than 2000rpm????

Pretty much!

from what i have read this will need a new downpipe due to the exit from the turbo.

see here Which big turbo? - uk-mkivs

wow

that has opened my eyes

can you not just get a 225 TT down pipe and put that on to the standard vRS cat?

the only one that bolts on is the 001 and even that will prob need a TIP / samco inlet hose change...

as already said a K04 fropm an S3 or TT requires a different manifold and downpipe, water lines, oil lines, boost pipes, inlet pipe and mapping. anything over abot 250bhp and you'll need the injectors too.

385 for the turbo and injectors from a 6k mile TT

all the oil and air lines he said will come with the turbo. it apparently goe on to the manifold but i need to know if a TT downpipe will fit on the K04 turbo and not touch the compression chamber look at the pic.

i need to know if the downpipe is separate from the cat and if a tt pipe will attach to the vrs cat if they are separate pieces?

cheers

No, vrs is one single pipe and a much shorter piece where it joins the system. you would need to get your turbo/cat section cut and new piece spliced in properly.

Surely that is going to foul on the intercooler pipe?

Maybe if you had the dual FMIC pipework it might fit? But that would be more trouble and expense.

If i did it would be a waste of money coz i dont want that sort of power.

i cant see the piont in havin more than 240/250 bhp in a FWD car. if it was 4WD then yea, if i can keep my octy when i get another car i was thinkin of makin it 4WD and doin it all up over a few year. as a project car.

we shal see

dont bother trying to make a vRS 4x4 its easier to make a 4x4 hatch a vRS mate

did they make a 4x4 hatch?????

i thought it was jus the estate.
