Door Mirrors - can both dip when reversing?

Featured Replies

It would be quite useful if both door mirrors could dip (not just the nearside one) when reversing. Does anyone know if it's possible to program this?

Thanks for any comments.

Check your maxidot, you should have this function. Mine does it since day one.

If no maxidot, this needs to be set via VAS at the dealer's.

Mine does this automatically.

L on the mirror adjuster moves the nearside (left) mirror and R moves BOTH.

I wasn't aware that it is any function of Maxidot. I had a Fabia 1.4 previously and the mirror adjuster worked the same.

I think that this only applies to manual dipping; I'm talking about the automatic dipping function when reverse is selected. Will check the maxidot function and report back.

That's right; mine is a 'manual system' not auto when reverse selected.

Bertj,

Please let me know the results of your tests re reverse mirror dipping.

I've followed the instruction in the handbook, but it doesn't seem to work.

Have maxi dot??? Thanks Waterloo.

Just to clarify things:

You need the electric drivers memory seat (L&K) for this function to work. If you have the above, select 'L' on the mirror controller.

It doesn't work on both mirrors via the MaxiDot display. Some VAG-COM fettling might make it possible.

Mine is a L&K and there is definitely no way of making both mirrors dip automatically using maxidot - I spent 2 hours fiddling with the settings. I've no idea whether VAGcom could do this.

Maybe there is the capability somewhere, what happens if the car is left hand drive?

LHD uses a totally different mirror assembly on what is our drivers side. For some reason passenger mirrors on LHD cars are much smaller.

Yes but I would assume the electrical control system is the same.

Why do LHD have the passenger mirror at a different angle to ours? they look like they have been partially folded in

 really? I though that mirrors are the same for LHD and RHD.

I dont have electric seats. So there is no way to have dipping funcion?

All the best from Slovenia :wavey:

If selecting L doen't work would selecting R on the controller will dip both?

Send Bryan a PM, I'm nearly sure he has both working on a New L&K ;)

Select R on mine and neither dip.

Select R on mine and neither dip.

Give Bryan a shout, I did see his working ;), but dunno how he done it.

Still fiddeling with mine. Handbook says select R. Will now try selecting L??

Have followed instructions. Mirrors DONT come back to driving position at 15kph or any other speed.

However if left in reverse postion mirrors revert to driving position on unlocking and opening door.

Just tried L. Still no joy.

Select seat postion 1 seat and mirrors move to set driving postion 1.

Select postion 2 seat and mirrors move to driving position 2.

Cant seem to get reversing position to work??
