Big Brother is watching!!

Featured Replies

Popped into my local dealers today (horners bury) to see about my washerjets (see other post  ) and i was quite suprised to find out that they knew who i was on this site... :D (they were tipped off by horners manchester apparently) :)

so if anyone reads this... HELLO! :D

also, all the vRSs they have in stock now (loads in the compound) have the short style vrs badge on the back!

ps. martin... Gemma read that comment you wrote about her!!

Denis.....did I or did I not send you a pm on a related subject here??

And I thought I was paranoid.

Its ok martin.. they dont know who you are... they only know me coz of my reputation with the cupholders :P lol

It is not surprising that dealers visit Briskoda and start to recognise members. We would love to have more register though, but with some of the stance that Skoda UK takes it is hardly surprising they choose to remain anonymous.

Basically, was talkin to Paul, one of the salemen about it. his stance is they looked out of curiosity as "briskoda" kept popping up.. on customers cars *ahem* and when they were tipped off about having a whole thread about them. but he thinks that browsing a skoda website is overkill for a person who is around skodas most his life. which is fair dos.

the thing i like is the fact that they do look occasionally, possibly for feedback on their service/image. and the reviews section doesnt have a bad word to say about this particular dealer :)

Oh thank god for that :o

You are famous as i have mentioned about the mysterious bloke with the cupholders and they were all like "oh yeah colin" :D:rofl:

Im famous in that place purely for being a fussy ba$tard who complains about imaginary rattles and breaks seats with his fat ar$e!!! ;)

Hehehe.. i did say you were called martin.. but they couldnt picture you.. tho i may mention the fat **** thing next time!

Naa. tho richard the service manager did have the bonnet open.. dont think he missed the strutbrace! :D

tho i did mention the small badge.. and apparently can only buy it complete with the FABIA bit aswell

was he bothered about the brace then?
Nope not at all, didnt say anything.. not even a disapproving glance :)

Yeah, is really nice that they show an interest, big thumbs up to Horners!

Just wait for Horners to start invaildating your warranties! :)

....now now Paul, please refrain from that sort of comment.

I spoke with Gary, the service manager there, and he is more than happy to support \ warranty cars that have had remaps.

but he thinks that browsing a skoda website is overkill for a person who is around skodas most his life. which is fair dos.

But he earns his living from Skoda owners being happy with the dealership - if I knew there was a forum on which my customers gave feedback on me to other existing customers and potential future customers, I'd make the effort to read it, whether I spent all day immersed in the product or not.

Besides which, what the hell else do car salesmen do all day?!

Rob.

untill they break?

really useful service that!

In the case of Paul, at Horners Manchester, he spends a lot of time doing a great deal for briskoda members, if anyone is considering changing please give him a bell as he will do you a great price, Horners sales team really do go that extra mile!

Hear that knocking sound? Thats another nail in the coffin for their franchise / warranty claims

Maybe you'd like to list, publicly, all the dealers who will turn a blind eye to modified cars. I mean it's not like Skoda UK would ever read this board is it ;)

No Paul, Gary has a sensible approach, if something is ecu related and you have modified the ecu, then clearly it's not a skoda part anymore, but if a wiper motor fails, he has the common sense to see they are not related.

Just wish all Skoda dealers had that common sense.

your quite right Jon - their new serivce manager Mike is completely against all mods and briskoda so what ever you do dont go to Horners if it is modded!

Paul, are you saying that despite their fantastic sales team, once you have bought the car you should not use them for warranty \ servicing?

Would be such a shame if half the dealership was pro-briskoda and half was anti-briskoda, as you would never quite know where you stand with them.

it would appear that a number of dealers across manchester and warrington are selling new skodas - offering to/modifying them before sale but then taking a poor stance relating to these mods when warranty rectification is required when the customer has had similar/same mods done elsewhere......

Tavia exactly if the part that fails is related to a part you have uprated then the claim should be invalid against the customer. Why more dealships can't see this simple logic is beyond me but to all those that do a massive  from me.

It isn't always that clear cut though is it?

Ooops, I've warped my disks. Should that go through on warranty? all I've done is a remap.

Ooops, I've cracked a wishbone bush. Should that go through on warranty? all I've done is to fit wider, grippier tyres.

Ooops, I've wrecked my dumpvalve. Should that go through on warranty? all I've done is a remap.

Get the idea?

oops my nob fell off (the mirror controller) but i have fitted a sunstrip?

oops my camsensor failed but i have got a Boney M cd?

oops my gearbox shattered but all i did was chip my car, lower it, run on slicks, uprate the brakes, uprate the clutch, replace the exhaust, sticker it, replace induction kit, fiddle with actuator, fit fmic, remove interior, fit wrc wing, take mudflaps off, and let ian sit in it.. bugger that must have been it damn Ian.

:D

OK maybe not so clear cut !

Its a very difficult situation for any dealer, obviously they want to keep customers happy.

However I feel it's a more difficult situation for the owner that has been told that a remap is fine and won't endanger warranty, but then staff change at that dealer and their policy changes.

The customer has already taken the dealer's advice and remapped the car, but is now left with a car with no warranty.

oops my camsensor failed but i have got a Boney M cd?

I thought that upgrade was only available on the Zafira GSi...?
