any rumours on 2009 vrs

Featured Replies

Anyone heard any thing about what we have got to look forward to for next years vrs l'm hoping for more power on tdi and 4 wheel drive cos l think everyone would agree this would be a good thing.:thumbup:

Someone mentioned dropping the PD and going to common rail so lower emissions and more power( well slightly).

4wd sounds good!

DSG would be pretty good :)

VAG are working on a new DSG box capable of IIRC 700 Nm, considerably higher than the current one. No idea if it will be available for Skoda though.

as far as i know the vrs octavia will recive a facelift at the end of 2008. the tdi engine will become 2.0 tdi, common rail, euro 5, 170 bhp. a dsg box and 4x4 will also be available.

2.0 crd is obvious. would love to see any facts to support the rest.

The 265bhp 2.0T from the S3 would be a nice addition, with 4WD of course :)

The DSG would be quite possible as it's just a different parts bin , but I don't think there's a 4wd transmission that would just bolt straight on.

Plus that would give it an advantage over the golf and leon which isn't going to happen

Isn't the A5 chassis used for the golf gti too... surely they could just lift the transmission from the R32 to give the Octy 4WD?

As a brisky member once told me... with enough cash, patience and innovation - anything is possible :D

R32?

erm ... isn't the Octy Scout and 4x4 already a 4x4?

And the engine mounts are the same for 2.0 FSI and 2.0 FSI-T and 2.0 PD etc etc

As pointed out the R32 4x4 DSG is available.

A 4x4 200bhp TDI VRS or 265bhp TFSI VRS with DSG and flappy paddles would be bitching.

Shame it won't happen

All this speculation :)

We are the "Value" brand and probably would never see a vRS to rival the Mk5 golf or the Leon Cupra. Even though it's technically possible from current parts bins, why would they do it?

Skoda = Value

Seat = Sporty

VW = "Prestige"

I'd love to see a DSG 4x4 vRS, and would be second in line (after Mike) to buy it, but it won't happen, DSG maybe, a non sporty 4x4 on the 1.8TFSi???? maybe, but not on a vRS, it's all about branding.

PS, why do people still think the current DSG box is weak in some way? :)

VW = 'Prestige'? Are you joking? How can 'the peoples car' = prestige?

Also, being a brand synonymous for providing good value doesn't mean that it cannot provide the same engine and gearbox options as other brands within the same group.

Fair do's, I should have said Audi = prestige

I will put £100 on with you then Jonno that you won't see a 4x4 Hi bhp Octavia vRS.

Why has the vRS not got the same motor as the Leon Cupra yet? or the Edition 30? why no DSG? why no 4x4?

Why do it with the Mk2? they had a winner with the Mk1 but never really improved it through it's life cycle, why not make the WRC ltd edition with 4wd and the LCR / S3 motor?

It's Skoda, and they won't let it compete heads on with it's peers in the vag group imho.

Fluff, Audi are prestige.

edit ooops didn't see the other post.

They will never recreate a car like the Mk I vRS ie better than all the competition at the time (150bhp Golf GTI's etc when the Octavia was 180)

I reckon VW will reel them in for the forseeable future and never again will we see a skoda more powerful than its brothers and sister cars in the VW group(nor do I think it will get the power to match future sporty Seats,VW's,Audis)

Just my thoughts.Hope no dreams have been dashed:)

I'm just about to order a VRS Tdi estate, so i assume a cahnge in 2009 is why they are discounting them so heavily!! I would be gutted if i bought one and then a 4x4 vrs was launched!!

I didn't say they would I just said there is no reason why being a good value brand meant that they couldn't. I actually agree with you but just think it is a shame to be honest.

For me the Octy VRs fills a gap in the market for a larger well performing hot hatch and IMO neither Audi, VW or Seat have a car that directly competes with it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Confirmed today that Skoda will show the Octy vRS with 2.0TDI-CR at the Geneva motorshow next week. Bet Skoda UK are denying it's existence!

Have you got a link please? Tried searching, couldnt find anything specific.

I think they may well not do much at all for the MY09. Just the subtle engine change on the diesel, and drop the F from TFSI name.

Perhaps Maxi-dot will become standard on the vRS or something else pretty subtle.

Isn't the Octavia due a facelift for the family front end...?

If it's anything as quick as this one then I'll buy it....
