Remap on 1.9 TDI

Featured Replies

Had my fabia 3 remapped yesterday !! :) Had the mobile chap come from Custom Code ,took about half an hour and the results are great . Actually feels like there is a turbo now BHP has gone up to quoted 140-145 and the torque to 225-230. Feels faster than Standard vrs but is still a massive step down from the tuned vrs i had before . I have been having car depression but the remap has cured some of that:)!!!!

Internally the car is fantastic ,externally i'm still not sure and without the green and red badge i feel like i'm left out the club .:(

How does the standard suspension and brakes feel with the remap?? Your result does sound good and I bet it makes a world of difference

To be fare i don't think there is a great deal of difference between the feel of vrs and fabia 3 suspension, its high but firm and under heavy acceleration it speed boats abit !!! As for the brakes there ok with the extra power even though its drums on the rear . don't know about yours but my VRS was naff at breaking even with a upgrade of pads !!!!

Sounds like quite a bit of fun! How many miles had u put on the clock when u had it remapped? What are you going to do about your warranty? Has it been invalidated?

Glad you are pleased with the remap. Of course if you want tuned fabia vRS levels of performance you could always get a PD130 turbo fitted!! Plus get some eibach supension and a anti roll bar - just a suggestion of course.

Have u done any timed runs i.e. 50-70 or 0-60?

Regards,

Mark

The 1.9 TDI (105hp) remapps well, and yes you'll easily be on a par if not better than a standard VRS... on the plus side you don't have to worry about clutch slip and other associated issues.... nice little sleeper you've got there

Run it will Millers Sport 4 in the tank and slap a pannel filter on and you'll just get that little bit more as well :)

I've done 4000 miles before remap haven't had a chance to really let rip but i'll let you know ! As for the warranty it can be switched back to standard if the worst should happen and i do have a good relationship with my dealer ( they turned a blind eye to my Vrs ) I did 90000 miles in three years with a remap on the last car so i feel fairly confident that a remap dosen't badly affect the car if driven sanely !!!!

They fitted a panel filter when they did the remap which was nice.

Sorry to sound a bit dumb, but I have just ordered a 1.9 TDI Fabia Estae. What's a remap? Is that another word for chipped???

Chipping is what one previously needed to do to upgrade software. Which involved physically removing the ECU to replace the chip. With a different chip with an alternate program. Now most of the time it's more worthwhile getting the ECU with original chip in it flashed with a new program... Thus it's more commonly referred to as remapping!

You could always badge up the car with the green and red from ebay or dealer.

Shameless plug - got a PD130 turbo for sale ;)

1.9 TDI 3 has drum brakes on the back? Really? My 1.9 TDI Elegance 'old' Fabia has disks on the back. Am I just deluding myself that such things matter? Opinions please if anyone can be bothered...

Yeah has been putting me off as well. Until they rectify this with a vRS or as an upgrade given to next line of more powerful engines on the way. As I know the vRS might be stretching my luck I'll settle for a "Skoda FabiaII Combi Sport/Scout with the 1.4TfSI -125hp"!!!:orb_artis Of course would love a vRS Combi with the 1.8TfSI+160hp or same with 1.4TSI-14-170hp... Oh won't even start begging for the Derv. variant as the 1.6CR we're waiting on is some ways off still (should be good for anything from 85hp-135hp).

I think you get rear disc brakes thrown in when you spec ESP.

Roomster 2 1.9TDI comes with rear discs. Interesting alternative to the combi/estate.

;-)

funny thing is i drive a roo 1.9tdi with discs at teh back and before that i had a fab 1.9tdi with drums. once they were both run in, i found the braking repsonses very similar tbh. maybe its the slightly heavier weight of the roo that warrants the discs.

so no ones tried a plug in unit on a 1.9tdi PD yet?

A rapid Roomster would be amusing in some weird and slightly twisted way.

iu had some pics of a modded black roomster. i bet thats going to see some tuning, if it hasnt already!

i think it had audi wheels?

Aside from looking naff, I don't think you'd notice any real difference in everyday driving, and I'm guessing it's just a cost cutting exercise. Do the equivalent VW/Seats come with drums or discs on the back? ESP equipped cars probably have disk brakes as it offers more granular control over braking individual wheels than a drum brake.

Wow if that's the case I have nothing to worry about. As next year all 2009 newly registered cars sold must be equipped with ESP.

Without trying to dis the Roomster, it's just doesn't sit right with me something with the way it still looks like 2 halves:-(

Sorry any self respecting Auto from well before Y2K would've been spec'd out with Disks all the way around!!!:orb_slediThis is just about what drum breaks will do 4 ya...:amb:

Well they can save quite allot more on the group of us that will skip the purchase all together!!!

why? when you brake the weight goes to the front of the car? when you park allot of cars have drums inside the discs to use, so dont use the discs then either!

unless youve got serious power and therefore have things like ESP, i dont think you need discs at the rear.

unless youve used both back to back how do you know discs at teh rear make any difference at all?

is this true?! if it is, then a great step forward for road saftey..... but I haven't heard it anywhere.... may I ask where this info came from?

Depends on the car, my other halves Aygo is very 21st century and dosen't have rear discs... perfectly able with out them.

Plus rear discs have their problems... how many cars with rear discs roll when they have the hand break on? Quite a few if parked up on an incline whilst the rear discs are still warm.

Saying that I would have expected a car such as a Fabia 3 with a 1.9TDI engine to have them
