Just flashed the standard map back on my car.....

Featured Replies

and my God its slow

Just reminds me how much the standard map drops off towards the redline.

Bet your all thinkig i am mad, but i have reasons in my ways.

Well two main reasons,

I want the car to be standard so the mapper whos mapping it when i get my turbo on next week will have a clean standard map to work with.

And I want to see the difference between 130bhp and 200+bhp :D

Turbo Dynamics so far have been spot on, exellent company to deal with and the call holding james bond style music is just class! i actually enjoyed holding...for once!

For anyone who doesnt know what i mean give TD a ring and ask them to put you on hold

Its reliable ;) Since it ran out of warrenty and ive been fixing it myself its been fine ( runs off to touch wood)

Its alot smoother with the standard map, i can see why the tuned map destroyed the standard clutch now

Welcome back to normality mate. :D

Us mere mortals who run around on 130 ponies will never know the delights of being able to waste CTR's.....no, wait...errm...

CAn of worms alert ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Cheers mate, i recon mines still faster than yours :P All that lovely leather weighs yours down while i have nice lightweight stained white ****ty seats

Will be able to waste them next week........ well hopefully, stay tuned ;)

That is strange that you say that it seems smoother, mine seemed rough prior to mapping but is more refined now.

You probably have a professional map, i made my own ;)

Mines was fast, smokey and not so clutch/turbo freindly

bet i'd smoke you in my standard car now;)

i'm a little dissapointed you will have your turbo on at blyton,i was looking forward to seeing how mine fared against a mapped one:thumbup:

bet i still do you on the twisty's:rofl:

The main thing that impressed me about a mapped one was it's eagerness to tear past 3k rpm and keep going to red line. A standard one just does not do that. Compared to a normal one, the mapped one felt 'frantic' for want of a better word.

You wanna bet ;) how do you know i dont have a nice set of v2 coilovers sat here

It'd be wierd with them there standard seats though....and I don't know how I'd live without my Arosa cupholder and Golf sunglasses case.

the blt ones seem better, mine actually picks up at 3k,and the dyno proved this:thumbup:

yer but its get me behind the wheel of mine, and i weigh less than a fag packet ;)

Will have to double dose the millers for that extra "edge" then to counter act your driving skill

I am naming mine smokey, I have a feeling she will be a bad smoker once the turbo goes on :o

Tart ;)

Ar yes but in my car you have the wonderful boost guage where you have your cupholder.

Need to get myself a sunglasses case, and probably some nice top gun shades to go in it.

cant wait now :D

Mine's a 2005 (55)er...

The thing that struck me about the standard map is it's almost encouraging you to change gear around 3K rpm. If Jabba still have their example power and torque graphs, there's a flat spot right in the middle of the rev range.

That's it exactly....in fact I often do change at around 3k to keep in the torque band. It needs mega cold air to make revving it any harder worthwhile. The standard map is a little narrow it has to be said. Even the missus HDi revs better and that has a tiny turbo which spools up quicker.

thats not nice,;)

and unfortunatly i have no driving skill:rofl:

What did you use to create your own map? Would be interested in reading how you go about doing it (not that I would create one myself).

Thanks

Not telling :P You should really go to a professional for stuff like this ;) put it one way i see the reason they charge £400+ for a proper re-map.... theres just so many parameters that need changing and if you change one you have to change the other to suit, then if you change something else you have to change another parameter to suit. its like a never ending circle of torment.

Someones hankering after a re-map, shall i fetch the byteshooter round?
