Engine's annoyed

Featured Replies

6 5 9 seems to be about the limit for stage 1 with your level of mods.

Might I suggest that you pop down to Awesome and have a word with Sarah or Jim Cotton and see what they say. I'm sure they don't want their good name tarnished by poor workmanship.

Sarah PM'd me the other day to say she'd speak to the bosses about it - but haven't heard anything back yet.

I'll drop her another mail and phone her if necessary.

Cheers

Glad to hear you're sorted now and those settings sound a lot more like it. See you at WSM

Thought I might pop a picture on to show you the pipe that Dave had to fix for me.

The RAC bloke was underneath the car looking at the DV... a little pipe was hanging off it which seems consistent from the pics I've seen in the DV install guide - and he also fixed this with a cable tie.

PoppedPipe.jpg

The original clip hadn't been fastened properly and was found in the engine bay beneath the mounting.

The RAC guy secured it with two cable ties, but Dave changed these for Jubilee Clips for me... got to keep an eye on it though as Dave commented that the pipe had been cut a little short.

The pic is blatantly stolen from Stu's EVOM install guide by the way... hope you don't mind Stu :o

They shouldn't be anywhere near that pipe....are you sure you dont mean the pipe that comes off your intake manifold?

erm, maybe... I was only paying casual attention :o

Basically black pipe from the lower part of the engine (Dave said from the DV) - stainless steel bit and then another black pipe into the block.

===IIII===

/\ Kinda looked like that - and the pipe was about the width/size of a average thumb!

It was definately round there... I recall Dave having trouble with that stainless steel tube running over the engine and pipes under the fuel pump getting in the way.

EDIT - Yes it was defiantly the pipe above the one I've highlighted... I had a mooch before and saw all the Jubilee Clips on it!

Hi

This is Mark Ash (General Manager) of Awesome, can you pm me your invoice details and i will look into this with immediate effect and pull the workshop jobcard to find out exactly what has gone on with your car. If this clearly is the case of a bad job then action will be taken and i apologise in advance for the situation you have been put in.

Regards

Mark Ash

HI Guys

We have had a chat with Paul and we have also done a bit of checking in regards this part

The part comes with the fitting kit

In the kit it comes with tie wraps to connect the pipe

It is now come to light with this incident that the tie wraps are not suitable for this connection as it has boost going through it

We will be having a word with Forge in regards this as this is something that now looks like it requires addressing since this has happened

So we will be in touch with Forge and see what we can do with them to work together for a solution

The clip that comes as standard has to be cut off and it seems this was what was in the try

We apologise for the inconvenience caused and will be keen on replacing the tie wraps with some alternative clips

I am glad that everything has been sorted here for you Paul and please feel free to give us a call if there is anything that we can help you with

We do take all matters like this seriously and will look in to all situations to see how they can be improved on

Thank you

Sarah

That part isn't the best fitting I have seen as there isn't a lot of room however I have seen several that work fine with cable ties including my own.

Update :)

Car is now fixed and Revo is running strong... thanks for sorting it out for me Dave

It was, however, disconcerting when Dave found another loose clip in the engine bay  which he quickly fixed for me too.

Overall I'm happy with the outcome - though still a little annoyed at Awesome for putting me through it! :(

Revo's now running at B6 T5 F9 and is sweet as a nut - didn't realise how much I missed the power ;)

Thanks to ADS and everybody else for your support - see you at Weston ;)

That's GREAT !! Glad to see that your happy and back up and running ! Like Stu said you should return to Awsome GTI to alow them to resolve this issue as i am sure they will and restore there exellent reputation. Like you said were only human.

Thanks everybody for your support.

Regards :)

Dave
