mk1 Octavia vRS 0-60 time?

Featured Replies

I have just been out for a drive with my mate who has an Astra VXR, my mk1 octavia did a suprisingly good job of keeping up with the Astra.

I know the manual quotes 0-60 of 7.9 and AutoCar quote a figure of around 6.7 (isn't this figure possibly a remapped car though?)

I strongly suspect that the acceleration is faster than 7.9 secs, does anyone have any accurate information for a standard mk1 vRS?

Thanks

6.7 with the autocar was apparently a gentle remap @ 200bhp.

I know i've pulled 6.7 secs with a g-tech before no problem after a map.

I think standard I was getting 7.5 seconds after 2-3 runs.

Any information on 0 - 100 times?

6.7 seems a bit too quick but then again i have never timed it myself :)

it'll be nice to see what mine does once its up and running again :)

You and me both. :(

managed low 5's on hot slicks but not on road tyres.....

I don't think the 0-60 time is that great TBH. I'm more impressed with the in-gear acceleration once rolling.

it will ave rotted to nothing by the time you get off your lazy a$$ and fix it:D

you say that but the wheels are slowly turning and speeding up by the decade :D

That's a little harsh.......but true!! :rofl:

I def got 6.7 with the g-tech a couple of times, and it was the top model. They are meant to be VERY accurate.

This was before I put the TIP on too, so it might be 6.6999999999999999999999 now ;)

not saying that they aren't accurate but i have always wondered how them things work :confused:

tbh with most FWD cars youll be very lucky to get much below 6secs on road tyres. as said the big thing is in gear acceleration once moving as youd be suprised once moving quite how quick the oct can be, just a sham the handlings not the best.

:+1::)

Seems pretty accurate;

Trying to find a description on how they work on the site...

as i said i'm not saying they are inaccurate but short of voodoo i can't see how they work :confused:

the biggest trouble i have with hig power FWD is the potential 0-60 etc is well and good but how repeatable and achievable is it?

I rarely give it a trashing in 1st, some how I don't feel it's that good for the car.

Also I don't seem to get hardly any traction at the moment in 1st if I floor it :D

its no worse for the engine than booting it in any other gear :confused:

other than tyre wear that is :D

I was quite suprised/impressed with how easily a remapped Octavia picks up speed from around 70 :thumbup:

On your private road of course :D

Our national speed limit is 100kph. Need to get on a track!

being a thoroughly modern European, I was talking kph

effortless part throttle acceleration at motorway speeds :)

i wish looking back i got a nice octavia now just for the extra room for the baby ha ha but the fuel economy would kill me lol

It flew down the ramp at IP yesterday, well, with us pushing it did......................LOL
