Are white alloys difficult to keep clean?

Featured Replies

Have found a place that will do my 13" alloys for £40 a wheel including strip refit and balance. I think my rims are leaking badly due to corrosion on most of them anyway, so £25 more for a like new wheel, and getting a new colour, seems a better option than paying £15 to get it bodged up and re-sealed. I would love to get them done white, but the only thing putting me off is the possible amount of cleaning required to keep them white. Particularly given there are some recessed difficult to clean bits. I could get them black or anthracite and all the brake dust and muck would sort of blend in

These are the type of wheels

Yup, they are a complete 'mare to keep clean. And like you've already said, if there are any tricky recessed areas on your particular rims then it'll be even worse, brake dust and everything will just get caught and make them look poo. You can keep them looking good, just uber high maintenance. My old Integra had white wheels as standard, they had started to look a little tatty so I got them refurbed black, always looked clean then and thoughened up the look of the car in my opinion.

I would love to have white wheels on my octavia but it's the cleaning that puts me off

Cleaning is not so bad.

The surface on my wheels is so glossy the dust doesnt stick and just a rinse has them looking quite clean.

It takes just as long to clean silver wheels as it does white.

Saying that they dont stay as clean buti think my wheels are easier to clean now than they were before

White wheel always look great on the right cars. My partner has an escort turbo, its white with white wheels. I've always used the same stuff on them. Give them a good clean with Poorboys spray and rinse cleaner to start with, just to get rid of any dust or dirt, then apply Poorboys wheel sealant. This stops break dust and a large amount of dirt from sticking and they'll be a breeze to clean thereafter. You'll only need to use the sealant once every few months. Let me know if you'd like me to put you in touch with my supplier - very reasonable prices.
