AMD OneClick vs Revo software & SPS

Featured Replies

Sorry but I've tried searching the forums for guidance on the subject of remaps (in particular reversible) and nothing definite has guided me to a definitive product, although I did read interesting thread suggesting that "stock" may not be standard when using the Revo with Serial

This is a concern for me, I would like a fully reversible solution (as if it never touched the car).

So although the standard seems currently to be discussions on Revo, bearing in mind I intend to keep the car as long as poss, I have turned around to thinking about the AMD oneclick. But I know nothing about both systems so this is coming from a complete naivety.

That said - I HAVE got a ODBII cable, and with VAGCOM I have setup enabled Cruise AND installed it completely myself on the 130PDi - so Im not a total NEWB

So, this is my dilemma....which remap, or just not bother on account of safety of remaining standard (sorry im the more "sensible" guy maybe I dont belong on here :D)

Im also assuming oneclick is much more expensive although more of a "fully reversible" solution, based on the previous postings.

I.e. £499 for the oneclick, but another £340 for the stage 1 ???

AmD OneClick for the VAG PD Engines for Skoda Fabia 1.9 Tdi 130 Bhp vRS

Any advice Im grateful for in advance !

The REVO software remains on the car. The AMD does a reflash every time I think.

Thanks for confirmation Stu.

The Oneclick sounds more suitable to me as a controllable switch rather than return to be removed.

I think it may also be advocated by the main dealer, I recall them mentioning this name I think.

I'll be interested in their confirmation of the total cost. If its really over £800 I'll have to think carefully about whether I really need it.

But I really dont like the idea of a software "residue" left on my ECU - even after a Trial.

AMD were a company in their own right. They were recently bought by another company called BigBoys Toys so things may have changed.

There is another company called DNA tuning who sell the same device which is actually manufactured by milford microsystems.

I will say one thing.

The original OneClick map was "A bit harsh". Yes you get 170/290+ out of it but it all happened in the first 2.5krpm. This ment much eating of tyres and much disintegration of flywheel/clutch. The Revo map from what I have seen is less severe although ultimately not as powerful (This isn't always a bad thing. On a wet/icy day the One click could be a real handful).

Now they are based in Essex run by BBT I am not sure if the original map is the same. I went and had mine customised which only gave out about 160/270 ish but it was deffo a quicker car after it was tweeked because of where the power came in.

You could also consider a Bluefin

Scratch that. Bluefin isn't compatable with the Vrs's ECU :(

I have an AmD One Click for Sale

Only £350 to get it reflashed..A saving of £150

Make me an offer

Do you know how sometimes you ask a question and end up more confused than when you began....

Thats how I feel now lol

Sorry guys

ChrisRS I appreciate your offer, although how much would you actually be looking for ?

It just didn't make a lot of sense to me for you to sell it. If I only save £150 after reflash (assuming oneclick comes with a performance map at £499) wouldn't you have to be practically giving this away ( or at least definitely less than the difference ) for it to make sense?

(and in which case youd be better off keeping it anyway?).

The Revo SOUNDS better but at the end of the day Id feel safer with one authorised by my dealer - or at least, able to be fully reversed and not end up interfering with the ECU.

I think its best perhaps I have a chat with them too, see what they have to add as well before I make my mind up.

I'd sell my one click unit for £25 posted. :)

How about Custom Code? Switchable with VAG-COM. Plus they're (were) offering a discount, so came to about £340 all in.

Hmm one question Tim, its an interesting extra option.

I possess a downloaded installation of 311 VAG COM which is an earlier version usedwith a cheapo cable from ebay, which is marked autonostics and 409 but I could never get it to work with this version !

But still managed to unlock the cruise with it, with the even older version.

So I would question perhaps if this would be compatible, although could be investigated and is a cheaper option.

Also - Tom :

Do you mind me asking why you (and others) are so keen to sell the AMD ?

(or would this be too much perhaps to ask! I am just wondering what I am missing out on)

Have you opted instead for another mod or more expensive/flexible mechanism (outgrown the standard oneclick perhaps?)

Cos Ive sold the car!!

I removed the map with the unit before selling

I too sold the car without the map, and Patsy is just too high mileage to consider remapping imho.

Tom i'd be open to buying your one click unit.

Would I be able to just plug it in and use it or would have to be reflashed?

If it has to be reflashed, could you explain why?

I'm new to all this stuff so don't really have a clue.

Cheers Luke.

It will need reflashing, either by AmD (BBT) or DNA Tuning. As I understand it the unit 'locks' itself to the ECU when first used and can only be used on that ECU.

Best to contact Custom Code to see if you can use an older version of VAG-COM with their software, I'm not sure. Also was your 311 a free version of VAG-COM? I surprised you unlocked the cruise feature with it.

Yes, you would be buying the switching unit - you'd have to arrange getting your own remap put on the box :)

I've also got a one click for sale along with PD 160 intake and cotton green filter plus cleaning fluid.

It's in the for sale section.

Company car going back end of the month so all the goodies have to be taken off!!!

I must be blind Tom as I don't see your auction.

Anyway to Charlo, Tom, ChrisRS. If anyone still wants to offer me their unit at the right price - I am sold ! Tom if you haven't already sorted it with Rowell, then I am interested.

I think I am interested in to first off get the oneclick even if I can't get around to using it straight away (needing it flashed for my car later) at least it commits me to one solution.

The custom code also sounded interesting but I'd have to get a response from them to find out about the vag support. ...

Sounds like much of a muchness to me between the two anyway and I like the option of the softer AMD tune.

Also worth looking at Angel tuning, which do switchable mapping, as do Star (I believe).

OneClick and Angel reflashes the ECU each time you switch between stock and performance, whereas Revo and CC you are switching the map on/off i.e. the extra code is held in the ECU at all times. The dealer can find about about both types

I guess the question for me is what are the reasons for going for a switchable map. If you are frequently going to be changing between standard and performance maps then it makes sense, but if it's just for when you sell the car, then it would make more sense (at least financially) to get it custom mapped by a reputable tuner and then have them reflash your old map back onto the car for a nominal fee come resale time. All maps are reversible so long as you save off the map and I'm sure it's common practice for tuners to do this....

Chris

Errr, how can a dealer tell if a car has been one clicked and is running the standard map??

Errr, how can a dealer tell if a car has been one clicked and is running the standard map??

I seem to remember someone mentioning a flash counter which would be incremented every time the unit was reflashed and a map uploaded. No idea if that's true however....

Chris

Thats certainly the case on the 2.0TFSI and PD170, but dont think so on the PD130.

Perhaps the PD engines don't have a counter then, in which case the dealer can't tell ;)
