BRISKODA.net fundraiser idea ...

Featured Replies

I have a cunning plan ...

... but I doubt that we have time to pull it off.

That engine on ebay, the 1.8t Octy motor, is about to go for a song. If we could get, say, 50 members to chip in

i know theres an auction for the cancer backup fund going on at the mo but while i was in Gt Yarmouth the other weekend a Scooby club ran a fund raising exercise for the McMillan Cancer fund by driving up and down the sea front with buckets collecting from people.

This was the biggest collection of Scoobys i've ever seen, the lead and tail car had yellow flashing lights and stickers on them (some of the others had stickers too) but from what i could see they seemed to be doing pretty well

I thought (although its stealing the idea) Briskoda could do something simular at another of the UK's sea side towns like say Rhyl or somewhere that we could all almost get to in a day and then perhaps have a get together after the fund raising had finished.

Just a thought...

I think that is a cracking idea.

Steve

I've merged the two threads as they are almost overlapping... Keep the idea's coming though !

Blummin eck - you would need S019,the SAS and the QLR for security there - they mug you for 10p

Great idea though - but would need to be somewhere slightly more upmarket to get a usefull response tho

Rhyl a seaside town - more like a sea side tip.

Would take me 6 hours to get to Rhyl

ok ok maybe not rhyl but it was the first place that came to mind...

thought it was a cracking way to raise the profile of the car, the club and raise some money for a worthy cause all at the same time.

maybe we could have some larger than the normal briskoda stickers made up that could be put on the cars, and something to link the whole thing to the charity...

Tis a good idea Nigel. Not knocking it - just Rhyl not overly appealing.

Could we do a Lands End to John O'Groats run kind of thing?

Has been discussed before, but I think there were several complications with doing it legit. Not to mention the fuel costs!

Rob.

Last year, the Cumbrian Scoobs raised

The HantsScoobs are also participating in the Mencap Classic tour over the bank holiday weekend which is an annual fund raising event involving being sponsored to drive 130 miles of some of the south's best roads - a tough job, but someone's got to do it. ;) The route is planned by a pair of ex-rally drivers who supply pace notes complete with tulip (?) diagrams from Warminster to Yeovil with a lunch time stop. Plenty of other car makes involved such as Mitsi's (boooo!), Porsches and some of the more classic cars, like Morgans, Minis, Rovers.

Route ends at a Mencap college in Yeovil and there's a big barbeque and disco in the evening with the option to camp in the grounds or stay in the onsite chalet-type accommodation.

Maybe something our Southern regional organiser wants to try and get some Skuds involved in next year?

Chris

How about doing a London to Brighton Run and collect along the way..... Dont use motorways and go down the A23 and through all the towns.....

sounds cool.
