Forge Rear Brace Fitted - Wow!

Featured Replies

I got round to fitting my Forge rear strut brace this am. Really pretty easy DIY- I've put up a mini guide with pics http://briskoda.net/forums/technical-guides/pictorial-guide-fitting-forge-rear-strut-brace/103057/. Took me about half an hour to do....

Driving in same 20km stretch to work this pm - I just love it!

Although the guys at Forge modestly say that it is more bling than performance - I can report that it really does tighten up the rear and reduce body flex - to a degree that you can truly appreciate.

Going in to the first sweeping bend, rear felt more planted and the car response to steering input feels more positive....Quick (careful!) lane changes even more controllable. Very much 'Go-Kart like'....

Too bad the Bahrain Police were augmenting their revenue with radar, otherwise I would have been able to comment on triple-digit performance as well :D:D

By coincidence, mate WW got his fitted couple of days ago to his estate - and he felt it reduced bodyflex noticeably. He was of the opinion that it'd be less of a mod to a Fabia vRS - NOT!

Posted some pics in the guide - it's lightweight (@Jase:):)) - in fact I was surprised by how light - WW said that the Front + Rear Forge braces together are lighter than the SEAT one on its own. Screwed in tight - it's rigid and solid - just hope E-E doesn't try giving someone a tow with it, that's all :D

Cheers

Bas

Glad to hear it ;)

Jealous as on the Estate it is a total b*tch to get to the hole where the bolts go, had to rip most stuff out of the boot to do it, but it worked fine ;)

Must get the proper spanner size though to give it a good tightening, hand-tight is ok but I'd imagine doing a proper job will be worth it ;)

good post mate get some pics up very soon i had a rear strut brace on my clio 172 and it made a noticeable difference too although not many people agree lol :)

{EDIT} Having heard those same type of negative comments made me put this mod off till recently - but they were wrong IMHO. It rocks and should be higher up on the list of Fabia mods to do:D....

Some pics in my project journal, ok not great as estate but location is the same - link to the project journal is in my sig, you'll want the 'journal II' link

I heard they were top mods (not on a fabia mind)

Im interested in these forge ones, any links / prices??

:thumbup:just as i go and get all bases covered, one of the usuall suspects goes and finds me more things to spend cash on:rofl:

Will be booking mine in at jabba for spec clutch and peloquin action tommorow, ready to take her on track on the 29th march, should be interesting:D

Me too, i must not buy one , i must not buy one, i must not buy one

Ooops too late, i am already looking at them on the forge website :o

Link to the Forge site with the rear strut brace is here

Thanks Bas , Glad you are happy

I was amazed how much difference it made to the estate too, it really tightened it up :D
