It took me 20 minutes, and I'm a total spanner-spaz.

Ask Wiebo how long it took him to remove his front bumper outside my house!

nope you will have to wait till the weekend when all the toys are on :P

:P

:wrthless:

how exactly are they fitted mate any guides? do they go straight on without moving any engine components cheers mate

It is pretty easy, just forgot to bring the extender so had a little fun with the bolts ;)

Think that 40 mins also included a vagcom scan :P - plus I dont rush hehehe ;)

When you get those coilovers fitted, it may be worth getting those bolts replaced with new ones, they were a bit rusted from underneath and they're fairly cheap (few quid for the lot I reckon) :)

Was good to meet you guys

There is a guide at http://briskoda.net/forums/technical-guides/fabia-how-fit-seat-strut-brace-fabia/14893/ but it looks like the pictures have gone.

I believe the brace does come complete with instructions and it is simply a case of removing 4 bolts, sliding the brace in, and then putting the bolts back in and torquing them up. If I can fit one, anyone can

yep the piccie links have gone off that link but it really is simple unscrew bolts slide brace in screw bolts back and torque up.

or how long it took him to remove his exhaust outside my house

whats all this torque stuff how do you know if its tightened properly or not sorry i have no idea about torque stuff cheers about from mine has around 280lb ha ha

You need to get yourself a torque wrench (ie a spanner that only lets you tighten things to a specific torque, ie how much turning force is applied). Pretty sure this is the one I bought ... Torque Wrench - Screwfix.com, Where the Trade Buys

Chris

cheers mate thanks for that never seen one of them before i have loads of spanners etc etc but what torque setting is required for the nuts also looked under my bonnet at lunch time and directly on the drivers side there is a black box saying VW AC on it completely covering that sid so how can a strut brace fit cheers thanks

  • Author

i think we just lifted said black box out of the way  then put it back. There is a thread about the torque settings let me find it. Simply tighten them till u cant go any more

IIRC, the torque setting is 25Nm which is a bit less than tightening until you can't turn any more! :P:rofl:

Chris
