Multiple replacement windscreens....anyone else?

Featured Replies

So the front screen on my VRS cracked this morning. :thumbdwn:

Didn't sound like a large stone and i wasn't going very fast but ended up with a nice 6inch crack by the time i got to work.

This will be my 3rd screen in 60k!!

Is it just bad luck? or poor design / quality of glass?

I've never had a chipped or cracked screen in any other car.

Hi!

Bad luck about the screens. Yours is the first post I've seen about someone getting through more than their fair share of 'screens!!

I've had a small chip in mine for just over a year and that hasn't got any bigger since it happened. Had a friend though who had a brand new Citreon Zsara (or whatever they were called) and that screen spontaneously broke within the first week! I think they reckoned it hadn't been fitted properly in the first place so broke as the car flexed.

Have you had it replaced by the same people each time? Could be their screen suppliers problem?

Sorry I can't be anymore helpful!

just passed 58k in mine this evening , plenty of microchips on my screen , but it is the original

there may be a stress point in the body of your car which is causing the screen the crack , seen it a few times on some Fords

im on my third windscreen after 22k and thats got a chip in it!

Mine's getting it's first replacement today at 24K

Depends on the roads that you travel, if you do lots of motorway/fast A roads, you will be more likely to get cracked screens due to the stones getting flicked up.

I had the same issue with my last car, everytime I got the screen repaired/replaced, it got damaged within a couple of weeks.

i'm at 24k, few wee chips but still original screen. If it is the same company replacing them, id be asking questions.
