Featured Replies

Hi all. does anyone have any experience fitting an induction kit to a 1.4 16v sport, have old viper from me ex-rover and wondered is it possible to tweak it to fit the fabia.

any one....thanks muchly

would imagine you could modify it to fit without too much trouble, after all,its only a bit of pipe with some sponge on the end:thumbup:

Am I being blind but... where's the airbox!? :|

Right, I think the engine cover IS the airbox!!

Here's a pic with a Pipercross kit fitted to an Ibiza, but it's the same engine.

the engine cover is the airbox. Its not exactly the best set-up for an induction kit as the filter will need to sit on top of the engine and is difficult to get a decent cold air feed to it. I butchered my airbox on my 1.4 Ibiza sport (same set up) by running a stainless steel pipe from the inlet to the front of the battery and used a "mushroom" type filter.

Good luck fitting it, its a pain to sort out!

great stuff, now the hole at the front of the engine when the top is removed, is that used for any thing?

At least the induction is sorted, just need to think how to set it up.

Thanks all :)

That, I think you will find is the hot air pick-up point - so no worries there as it just sits on top of the exhaust (at certain times during cold periods the air cleaner will divert from the side normal intake position to this point so it will be sucking in air warmed up by passing over the exhaust pipes).

The PCV will need a bit of attention as it normally gets drawn in through the air cleaner in a controlled manner.

great. now for the tricky bit. for style reasons the cover weill be going back on. this is one engine that will require a haynes manual for once.... he he

Also, found a mesh grille on e-bay.

Wonder if its possilble to mesh the standard one.

Did it on the rover so shouldn't be that hard.......... will get back to you on that

good luck fella

If you get stuck dude, msg me n i'll help as much as i can, as i know what its like trying to do it and keep your original engine cover (almost) intact lol It is a pain but sounds good when done!

i stuck a induction kit on me skoda 1.4 8V, i ran the cone filter to sit just onto of my factory air box (with the lid off) n replaced with small and thin intake hose running from the front grill with a beefy hose leading to the cone filter. looks pretty funky. will have to post a pic tomoz

do you notice much of a better engine pull etc? or is it just more noise and no gain?! :D

depends on the kit. pipercross deliver more acceleration than k&n, even the cda can give little performance.

It all depends on the engine set up or remaps

this is my bodge job i recently undertook

i found that the standard intake pipe is rather narrow so i bolted on a wider one
