Just out of interest, how thik is the sump guard and could this be why people are scraping them on lowered cars? as this would make it even lower on the underneath

Its just becuase the desiel block is so tall, it sits out of the bottom of the car a little way. When lowering make it sit quite close to the floor.

I would recommend it regardless, it has saved my sump a few times I think ;)

Well I hit something the other day. Someone left a dead bambi in the middle of the road. Middle of the side I was using anyway. It hit lots as I passed over it. Lots of thumps and bumps from underneath.

I've also grounded out the undertray whilst parking 1/2 on a high kerb opposite my favourite tyre place.

If a sturdy! sumpguard was available, I'd consider buying one.

There was a write up in Performance VW this month about a small compay called Tuftrayz who make sump guards for 1.8T engines. There is a few pics of them fitted in the below thread i found. Maybe someone should contact and ask him if he fancies making some for groub buy or, if he plans on making any for fabias as there is a market.

Gary you don't drive round that low - you wound the coileys down for the photo you big stirrer  Reckon my charge cooler scoop's lower than anything on your se :finger:

I've emailed tuftrayz to see what they say.

I'd want to get one of these too... i'm only in a 1.4 MPi but plan on going to a few shows and winding the coilovers right down... just for the effect... you know..ennit.

Tuftrayz emailed me back today and basically he's not interested in doing sump guards for the Fabia VRS but he's prepared to do a group buy on re-inforced sumps if anyone's interested. Personally I'll hang on for a sump guard.

I understand that if there was alot of interest in the sumps guards Stuart would look into costs, the biggest being development costs. Maybe if someone could lend/get hold of one of the original guards the costs could be saved. Even if the drawings could be got hold of!

A company called TotalVAG sell them.

Give them a call (01525) 384455

They dont sell them anymore as their supplier stopped makign them :(

Anybody know whos making and selling these ???

I know some people say I dont need one but for piece of mind Id rather have one fitted.
