vrs pedals

Featured Replies

hi everyone, just a quick question; i have just purchased a lovely 2003 fabia vrs and have rubber pedals, just wondering if these are standard? i have no intention of changing them, just wondered as ive only ever seen metal ones in the vrs.

thanks

neil

to confirm they are standard on the vrs

Nope, the metal and rubber ones are....

the metal ones are just covers and there gash, get dirty, rubber studs fall off em and once one of them fell off on mine and impeded the brake, not good :(

Yeah and to buy replacments seperate there expensive, but a set if 50 quid...?!!

so, to recap, rubber pedals with metal covers are standard!

Aye, they are just covers. They seem good quality though - studs are all intact on mine. My throttle pedal cover falls off with monotonous regularity though although the brake and clutch ones seem stuck on well enough.

Gash?

Gash?

Gash - as in (according to the OED 'spare' or 'extra') often taken to mean that something is rubbish - slang.

Maybe not quite what you were thinking

Eh? Surely "gash" as in "Salmony axe wound" or "Haddock pasty". Thereby "It's a fat sack of gash" = "It's rather poor". ;)

Gash = rubbish / crap

Maybe its just a Scottish thing ?

Nah, it's not a Scottish thing. I was just explaining that before it meant crap it meant minge. Sorry for any confusion caused.

I think it was spare/junk first. Common phrase in the broadcasting industry.

See i havent ever had a problem with them apart from the throttle one fell off once but apart from that they look the part, not like the horrible lookin plastic ones!

Um I agree... sorry - got lost with all the talk of flange for a second there...

Totally OT but the OP question has been answered I suppose, But Gash is a hugely used Naval term too, so much so that they have rooms officially named "Gash room" and "Gash Ejectors" on certain types of boat. where obviously the rubbish is stored. But being Scottish dependingh on the context of the phrase you can work out what gash means.

"Turn the TV over, this is gash" = Rubbish Telly

"I have a pocket full of gash" = Lots of change

"She has a gash like a magicians pocket" = you work it out ;)

yep gash a naval term......very common usage in the Royal marines:)

k:)

they are covers? oh might look at that then - I find the metal ones with a couple of studs quite slippery if they get wet, say if you just got in the car after rain!
