hmmm, taken from the ad;

it may increase power... but I'd disagree that a tuning box increases MPG.

strangely I found it did, and I dont mean the trip computer getting confused either - there was more torque lower down which when gently accelerating seems to use less fuel overall.

When booting it the fuel economy goes down a lot though

I found it about 3-5 mpg better when behaving myself within the constraints of the law

hmmm.... all the box does though is up the fueling... nothing else.

How was there more torque?

This bugged me too and the explanation I came up with (probably full of more holes than Swiss cheese ) was that because of the extra fuel the car enabled you to drive using the additional torque in a higher gear.

My own experience of tuning boxes was that my mpg remained pretty much constant with or without the box so technically the mpg did go up (as the box overfuels) but I wouldn't say it increased it massively.

but if I boot it it drops about 5-6 less than before.

Don't take this the wrong way but you've only bought a glorified resistor in a box.

Sure it may have an RRP of £70 or whatever but a £15 device would have the same effect.

I hope you've not bought it thinking it was a Digital Box.

That said you should notice an increase in performance.

Has a serial port, so there may be something more to it that just a potentiometer.

I'll wager the 9 pin is just for show. There are still only 2 pins on the plug so that's 2 in and 2 out.

if there are no leads to the battery its probably not digital

You can see it's not digital by looking at the plug in the background of the picture.

Plus, its connectors show it works by frigging the signal from the fuel temp sender rather than spoofing the signals from the ECU to the injectors (both technical terms! )

At the end of the day, Evry mod-type boxes are still a good bang-for-buck option as long as your car's old enough that it doesn't give your CEL light conniptions...

Yeah, I know. However, I'd rather buy one with a company name on it I know and pay a bit more than get an ebay black un-named box.
