Is Smoking Healthy ??

Featured Replies

Hi folks

first post on here and probably a stupid question but here goes.

Do cheaper diesel fuels make your vrs smoke more than more expensive diesel ??

I ask because i filled up with Shell diesel the other day and my motor smoked at the VERY top end occasionally. However Morrisons diesel this time around seems to smoke a bit more!

Could it be the fuel, or could it be the car ??

Ive had a stage 1 remap but didnt notice a difference between standard smoking and the new map smoking?

Any thoughts ??

diesels still do smoke badly imo and I think 'cheap' diesel makes more smoke!

thats the one thing thats puts me off diesel engined cars.

Yes. And if you add some Millers it'll smoke EVEN less and go like stink EVEN more. ;)

Welcome :)

It's a diesel. Live with it :)

NO! Diesel's CAN be clean dammit! Millers and a bigger intake will both help.

The best cure for a smokeless diesel is to attempt to press the loud pedal through the floor. This is healthy for for me as it results in elevated levels of all kinds of feelgood stuff in my bloodstream and good for the engine as it empties all the gunk.

Smoke = healthy long life

No smoke = early death

and good for the engine as it empties all the gunk.

:D...........and makes sure the turbo vanes don't stick

I fill mine with morrisons diesel at the moment and the poor woman behind me the other night got a car full of smoke when I booted it and this was when the car was warm and had been on the round about 20 to 30 mins

Am I the only one who derives a sick satisfaction from leaving behind a huge cloud of smoke & particulates as a parting gesture

I only smoke people if they get too close! ie tailgaters beware, because if Hannah's driving she is bad for smoking tailgaters

HmmM! Good to see people enjoy their smokey dirty diesels.

Mine has failed the previous 2 smoke tests for the MOT and had to have some form of treatment. I'm not sure if this is the MOT testers not letting it get up to temperature. Was at about 4.5 - 5. Just wondering if I should worry about this.

The garage give me the standard advice of driving it hard, but I usually don't really hang around. I wondered if it is related to the warm starting problem I've had?

Anyone got any ideas?

Andy

Yes Smoking can be good for you..." It cures Kippers ".......:)

Andy, "hard" in this context means "run it right into the governer a few times".

Mines likes to smoke. Remap and Exhaust FTW!! :)

I like to smoke too. Show them that they've just been done by a dirty denz:thumbup:

I love smoking people because it takes them a while to see where they are after

I love the smoke

I thought it would be goood......just shows up nicly on a yellow car

Theres nothing more satisfying on a summers day when theres a convertible tailgating you than booting it and watching them cough and splutter in your wake!:D

Apart from letting them catch up and doing it all over again:rofl::rofl:

Basically the smoke is unburned fuel?? So no great harm anyway

On the way to the test centre, drive it in 2nd/3rd, *hard*. Don't use the higher gears. Make sure it's warm first.
