Stripped it down and its now working OK, didnt grease the shaft as it collects dust

ok boys and girls... a friend of a friend who is a mechanic and has VAG diagnostics on his laptop identified the problem of a faulty STARTER MOTOR and has replaced it this afternoon and a complete diagnotics test again.. all working well...:-)

Ahh So it was the starter after all, glad its all sorted.
