J D Power Survey 2008

Featured Replies

I have just bought my AutoExpress mag for this week.

The Octavia has done it again and is No 1 overall in the reliability survey.

That's the second year running and I now feel fully justified in making my purchase of an Octavia last year. I have to say that I have been very very pleased with mine so far!

Another 'Happy Driver' !!

Blimey I find that surprising considering the moans and whines we get on here from time to time!

Don't forget that contributers to Briskoda will represent only a small percentage of the Skoda owning community; and probably more likely to voice their opinions good or bad.

For me; I'm a Happy (Skoda) Driver.

Out of curiousty where did Audi come (A3)

I'm a little suprised to see it at number 1, but mine is the first car I've ever owned to be 100% faultless. :)

Skoda Auto also scored highly in overall ownership score, coming in 2nd after Lexus, thus maintaining its position from last year.

Even the dealers I've spoken to seem to think the MK II is a lot less well put together than the MK I.

I really think it's got a lot to do with the skoda driver having lower expectations. I mean a BMW driver wouldn't accept squeaks from the suspension/dash on a 1 year old car but a skoda driver might. If a Merc breaks down in warrenty then the dealers would be highly embarrassed but the skoda ones would usually just fix it with the driver accepting it's a fact of life on a mass produced car.

That plus if it is an 08 survey I'm guessing it is still catching a lot of the 54/05 reg cars many of which would still be MK I's.

Personally I'd not put it anywhere near the top of my list, but I managed to have found one really good dealer out of many less than good ones in my area.

Having had experience of mercs, they tend to fall apart a lot, and embarass the company....

plus I've seen the level of trim that bmw owners seem satisfied with... ;)

Personally i think the occy II is very well put together. Trim well put together, doors shut with little effort, no squeaks and rattles (so far - touch wood)

Mine is 22 months old now and 40200 miles and its got rattles all over the place now.

The Octy II's I've been in all seem to rattle like mad.

My point was that if I had bothered to buy anything and vote on the JD power you can be assured that skoda would be getting pretty cloee to bottom marks for the octy II

Had mine for 9 months, done over 28,000 miles of lets say very spirited driving, not one problem what so ever, rattles none, which is not bad considering it goes down gravel railway roads every day.

I notice a trend though as the VRS are IIRC built at a different factory.

As long as the same guys built my new one I'll be ok then

Mines an 06 on 22k miles, and no rattles whatsoever.

No problems, irritations or breakdowns either. There is however a paint bubble on the rear spoiler which I may or may not get sorted one day.

All well then Tom, when you getting remap then, you know you want to:rofl:

I guess this was what Mark was alluding to earlier in the thread ;)

You've only had the bloody thing about a fortnight....

That's not much of a ringing endorsement

IIRC last time the mk2 was listed separatly from the mk1

my 05 plate does not have any rattles.

I know I've had the car 3 weeks... but normally there is something to irritate me. My Fabia rattled from new...

2.5 yrs old, 48000 mile pretty hard driving (very little of that is motorway work). No rattles. Cruise control fixed under warranty. 1 wheel bearing changes last week under warranty.

I call that reliable and all service from dealers has been spot on.

Mine still needs a G12 top up every 2 days as the fault can't be found :thumbdwn:

Still the most reliable car I've driven despite the numerous rattles in the cabin.

The new C5 is still looking favourable come renewal time

A wise man once said to me "If it's French & you can afford it - don't buy it".

Trouble is he now drives a Vauxhall...hmmm.

:eek::eek: - Noooooo - Dont do it
