Cargo net

Featured Replies

I noticed some natty cargo nets in some boots yesterday. My question is - are these standard Skoda accessories, and if not, where do they come from?

Thanks

Hmmmm.......not sure if they are standard but I kind of guess "Yes" as I got one in the previous Octy and have one now too.

Look under the boot floor in the spare wheel holder; if it's not been used then it'll be there (somewhere).

Cheers.

Adrian.

The boot storage net is standard equipment on all 2002/3 Octavia models other than the Classic. It is also standard equipment on the 2002/3 Fabia Estate.

Time to untangle the dog in the boot........dog.gif

We're talking a 2000 MY here, not your brand spankers.....

I'll check with a dealer.

My previous Octy was a 2000 reg SLX TDi and came with the cargo net. I would imagine yours came with one as well.

Cheers.

Well I'll have a look under the boot floor but at least I know I can go and buy one from the parts dept. if I need one - I just wanted to know if it was a Skoda item or some aftermarket job...

Sorry - I'll answer the question again. Yes, they are a standard Skoda accessory. :D

Thanks Denis - received and understood. I just looked under my boot floor - no surprises there - no net. I'll make enquries about a replacement (or two - the Porker is supposed to have one too but I'm betting a Skoda one is MUUUUUUUUUCH cheaper ;) )

I had one as standard on my 99 slxi 1.8T and the RS , maybe someone has 'half-inched' your net Nick , before they traded the car in perhaps?

Err, My WRC came with 2.

Spare one is your'es if you want it.

That's very kind Graham - but it's not worth troubling you for - I just ordered one for 10.99 inc VAT and was offered some discount as well on top of that !!!! So keep your spare in case you break the other one.

Thanks again

Is this cargo net one that hooks into the bottom of the boot, or one for

the cubbyhole on the driver's side of the boot?

If it's for the bottom of the boot, someone's nicked mine too! :(

Do have a strange strap with a clip on it though.

Cubbyhole? What cubbyhole? It's for the bottom of the boot.

I guess cubbyholes are a facelift item too.

The strap is probably the one for holding down your spare wheel and jack.

It's the bit behind the wheel arch and the back of the boot. On

the passenger's side the multichanger is mounted in that gap, while

on the driver's side there's a net that stretches across to form the

aforementioned cubbyhole...

Rob.

No strap in mine.

Spare wheel sits in a poly-something mould and has little cubbies for the jack, wheel brace. Also some spare cubbies, which was where the cargo net was (or was it in the driver side cubby which Rob was mentioning?  ).

Spare is located in place but a big nut which screws down onto a bolt coming out of the floor (sorry laymans term description).

Had the poly mouold thing in my pre-face lift Octy estate as well.

Cheers.

Adrian.

Of course us estate owners don't get a side net :(

..but we do get two handy side hidey holes! :D Great for a few tools \ brake fluid \ bulbs etc, and also ideal for keeping a torch.

(which, handily, you can keep permanently on charge plugged into the 12v outlet in the boot)

Small things that you don't buy the car for, but are appreciated when you use them.

My side net's knackered anyway, it's stretched beyond use.

The 12v outlet in the boot is something I'd really like in mine, so I could

plug some neons in. Nah, just kidding, was just thinking it would be

useful for a TrakM8 :p

Rob.

The cubbies in the estate are also a good place to put your autochanger.

THERE ARE NO CUBBIES IN MINE!!! Will you all stop going on about cubbyholes please (sniffle) ....... there are spaces behind the wheel arches but no hatches, flaps, doors, nets or anything else making an enclosed space.

Mine has the spare wheel attached to the boot floor with the big nut, then the poly moulded thing on top containing jack. The strap is attached round the wheel spokes and over the poly thing to hold it down.

oops, hit a nerve there!

I thought the hatch had the 12v outlet tho???

Yeah, the CD changer is already mounted in the left hand side, but thankfully still tons of space in there.

Just wish they had put the rear speakers in the tailgate, as my dad's old Astra estate had that and it made perfect sense when working around the car with the back open. More space for bigger cones also!

I'm pretty sure the hatch doesn't have the 12V outlet - at least, not the Ambiente.

Whereabouts would you expect it to be?

Seem to be building up a list of things to look at in the boot :D

Rob.

And the little fold down seat, handy for rallys, or when stuck on the Yorkshire moors, awaiting a very nice man :liao:

And your point is?

Observation, just and observation :D
