Fuel cap holder on flap?

Featured Replies

I've read about this in the tips thread but theres no pic (no longer available), can anyone put it up to show how it works as I'm tired of having the rest the filler cap against the bodywork

There should be a notch cut into the cap, it fit's on top of the flap.

i haven,t got one in mine so i just hold the cap.

Should be 2 square notches cut out the cap and your filler cap lies in between these.

Like so...

Turn the cap through 180 degrees; any fuel drips will fall on the inside of the flap and not on the shiny part...

And no, its not rocket science...

there's some rockets on here... ;)

Why would you have to do that? If your filling up chances are your tank is low on fuel and i'd be surprised/worried if there was fuel on the underside of the filler cap to drip off.

A few bits of condensation, maybe. The fuel cap will also jam under the pump trigger so that you don't have to stand there holding it all the time you're filling up!

Something about fuel evaporating then condensing leading to the formation of droplets springs (this being the season) to mind:O

Haha, fair enough but I can honestly say in 11 years of driving i've never had fuel drip off a fuel filler cap then I remove it. Its always moist but never enough to drop onto the paint.

Oh dear... how sad is this when we talk about droplets on a fuel filler cap :o When I remove the fuel filler nozzle I usually get about 5p's worth of Diesel on the paint anyway....lol

Always give it a shake before you pop it back in.

I find this helps....

No work today, easter eggs eaten, nothing on telly, too cold / wet to wash car or cut grass...

Its a handy little feature , thats for sure. Do any other cars have it or just the Fabia?

Anything VAG for sure.

Cool , its much better than having to take it off and lay it down on the pump somewhere , where it could get forgotten about.
