Hey all,

got my Octavia L&K a couple o months backs (the Laura here in India) with a basic Headunit as there is no other option.:thumbdwn:. Had a look at my options i had vis a vis replacements and zeroed in on the MFD2 as quite honestly i cannot afford the MFD3 (Incase anyone does find one going off a little cheap do pm me)

Any of you guys who have made the same changes do let me know of your experiences as to what i should be lookin out for while changing the units(read somewhere that there are some problems with the FM antenna) also if the unit has any problems playing any formats or any kinda experience that u might have had....

any sorta info will be much appreciated

I am in the same position as you, Want an MFD3, but I can only afford an MFD2

IIRC (Which I Probably Don't:O)

The problem is however that you need a CD Multichanger to play CD's with the MFD2, as the cd slot in the machine is only for the maps and nothing else (On the B Version). Also, you need a seperate dvd player if you want to watch movies too. Apparantley it also doesen't support MP3 CD's, Aux in or Park distance control

The MFD3 on the other hand does not require a separate CD multichanger or DVD player, supports all of the above as well as having a hard drive e.t.c

So basically, if you factor in the CD autochanger that you need with the MFD2 your actually just better of saving for the MFD3, but even then units with Skoda green LED's are thin on the ground

You don't need a CD changer on the MFD2 as it will play music CD's as well but you must have the navigation disk in the slot when using navigation.

The MFD2 can support pretty much anything you like provided you have the correct adaptor. With one box of tricks I am able to play my entire music collection via my ipod's A/V output socket. I can even watch movies on it when parked. I don't have a CD changer either.

The PDC works with MFD2 as the speaker unit is in the L/H/S B pillar but the graphics don't come up on the screen.

Oh, and my jumbo box AUX in socket works with it if required.

When I had my MFD2 it was connected to a Phatbox in place of the CD changer.

A much better way to go in my opinion.

what bout mp3's does it play that as well???

does it suppoert inputs for dugital radio??

thanx a lot for all the replies

No MP3. It supports many inputs, not specifically Digital Radio but would accept L/R Audio with an adaptor.

Hiya everyone. 1st post so be gentle.

History, 4years in 2003 Octy, then 2006 Octy. Just picked up new Octy 2.0DSG estate Leather with MFD2.

Can any one tell me how i can use my iPhone's music and video through the screen and speakers.

I dont mind spending more on something that will do more than less on something that is limited.

My wish list would be DTV, DVD. and A/V for anything i want to add.!!

Although the audio input in the arm rest is okay if i can use the sceen then why not.?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

With the MFD2 you'll need a video interface. Been discussed here a few times so I think if you search you'll see some people choices and results.

eBay is a good source for the interfaces.
