Too many laptops

Featured Replies

Dont know why but I just thought that I would take a photo of all the latops I have side by side , in the order they were purchased.

So, from left to right.

1) Toshiba Libretto 110.

Purchased in 1998 for £2K, yes thats correct £2,000. I have the box with price sticker on it.

Upgraded with 64MB of ram, 20GB Hard disk, overclocked to 266MHZ and running XP Pro.

2) Gericom Overdose

Purchased in 2003 (I think) for £700

Upgraded to 768MB ram, 100GB Hard disk, Running Ubuntu 7.1

3) Toshiba Equiium A100-337

Purchased Jan 2007 for £500

Upgraded Hard disk to 160GB, running Vista Ultimate

4) Asus EEE PC, 701 4G

Purchased March 2008 for £250

Upgraded to 2GB ram, and an additional 8GB SDHC card, running XP Pro.

All shown with briskoda Homepage, as you can see they all work fine. The libretto takes a while to load XP, but still does get there.

Can I ask why anyone needs 4 laptops! ;)

How do you find the asus saw a good deal on them, got to be very portable. Has it a good wireless range.

The EEE is very good, and all bar the old gericom were connected wirelessly to the router which is quiet a distance from where the picture was taken. Its definately worth the money, but takes a while to get XP to work just right in the limited storage space available.

I dont need 4 laptops, I did try to sell 2 of them at one point but its just not worth if for the money you get back. The Toshiba and EEE will both be used, but in different scenarios.

We have a Main Computer, 3 laptops and a Mac Book (<----- the way forward )

3 laps 1 pda and a pc. minitext has a lap and pc i have a lap and pda and my old lap isused by swmbo but occassionly used by me for doing vagcom and talex updates.

We have main pc, 4 laptops!

I like the little old Toshiba... looks smart if nothing else!

The old toshiba was very advanced for its day, hence the price of 2K. Even today the battery life is good, lasting for several hours.

The liberetto was, and to a point still is an awesome laptop...

it was the first of the "sub-notebooks" bridging the gap between the PIMs like the Psions and fully blown notebooks that were very big and hefty back in those days.

I had one until very recently when the display packed up :(

The little one does look cool :)

I have my main PC, and a Toshiba Quosmio Laptop, which despite its 40gb drive, and poor 512 mb Ram, still does me ok :) Lacks a numerical keypad though, which annoys me.

I'm thinking of buying a USB numerical pad, they aren't dear Dave. :)

Until VERY recently I've been a desktop man, normally home built. But bought a fully specced up Dell XPS 13.3" jobby and its the best machine I've ever had, and is ergonomically just as nice to use as my old desktop :)

I have a powerful desktop PC, It plays COD4 i iz happy :D

The EEE is very good, [snip], but takes a while to get XP to work just right in the limited storage space available.

Putting Window$ XP on the EEE just seems so wrong

You'll have Mr Torvalds spitting feathers

I don't know about wrong but I'm wondering why it's necessary.

I'm thinking of getting an EEE; is the standard install that bad?

The standard EEE install was fine, I just had a specific need to run windows program when mobile.

I'll gladly swap you my P.O.S. Dell laptop for your EEEEEEEEE. It runs XP fine :P

Apple Mac laptops are the future. The Eee is a decent cheap diddy laptop - works well with Windows Fundamentals. (stripped down XP for older machines).

Oh, nice Oppli. :D

I like my Ikea Oppli, drove some distance to get it as well. Stevenage to Wembley and back, just for the Oppli.

So mannyo - Old buddy old pal...

When are you giving these away to a nice new home? ;)

Buying a EEE myself come payday, although the three pc's and laptop is really enough but the EEE is just soooo cool! im tempted to wait till the 900 comes out but that's not till June.

I hae 1 PC and 1 laptop.

2 if you count my sisters.
