Air Induction Kit?

Featured Replies

I have just brought myself a Skoda Fabia Sport 1.4 16v 75bhp (2005) and I am wondering whether I can get hold of an Induction kit for it, if I can, I would like K&N induction kit. I have seen the Pipercross Induction kit but it doesn't really appeal to me all that much.

Can someone tell me where I can buy them?

If I can't get a nice induction Kit, what panel filter do you recommend?

Thanks in advance

If the engine looks anything like the 1.4 Ibiza sport then its murder to fit an induction kit, if you want to keep the plastic engine cover lol

Why do you want an induction kit ? It's hardly going to liberate any power from a 1.4. Hell, even on Subaru's they usually end up reducing power, all in the name of some under-bonnet bling and a silly sucking noise. Aftermarket panel filters don't offer much benefit either. In tests by Scoobymag and amateur testing on a rolling road by an independent mechanic I know, the OE paper filters in Subaru's outperformed the likes of K&N, Green, HKS and STi filters for both filtration (after all, that's what they're there for) and power, with the difference between ±2bhp overall. Waste of money, especially when increases are measured in %, and on such a meagre powered engine the % increase will be so minute. On diesel Fabia's the extra airflow offered by the PD160 (Ibiza) intake pipe reduces sooting marginally, and may be responsible for about 4-5bhp when remap'd, but on a tiny petrol, there's simply no point.

Its all about the noise! lol leave it lol lol lol Initial take off is slightly improved (i can testify to this as i've ran it on a 1.4) but the top end dies. Induction kits are a good laugh, thats all tbh lol

I am not worried about "sucking" noises or horsepower reduction or increases, the reason I want an induction kit is because they have a larger surface area and are less restricted to air flow than the standard panel filters. The improved air intake gives the throttle a better response, this is what I want to achieve because on the 1.4 to pull away nicely you have to get a good few thousand revs which I don't particularly like doing. I don't mind "wasting" money on a car I am going to have for the best part of 3-4 years.

Thanks for the concern and information though

if u want it to pull away a LITTLE quicker then by all means go for the induction kit, but u will loose top end "grunt"

End of the day, its your call, but if you do go for the kit, make sure its well away from heat and has a good cold air feed

Wot 'e says ^^^ An I/K located in a hot engine bay will severely reduce performance unless plenty of cold air is supplied to it. The Scooby boys usually run the induction pipe into the wing and open up a vent into that space underneath or through a foglight etc. IMHO they're a bling toy offering no benefit except bragging rights in McD's car park, and a good income to the suppliers. I've been modding cars for 20+ years and have enough experience to know what's worthwhile and what's not. However, it's your car and your cash, so knock yerself out.
