Any advice on VRS top mods / tweaks.

Featured Replies

If, in the future, I wanted to improve the handling etc of my new TDI VRS estate what mods would be on the top of peoples lists ?

Previously I have put a front strut, Jabba rear ARB and 312 brakes onto my "old" Fabia VRS to good enough (now owned by son). So Im looking for other "high impact" improvements really.

Ive havent found the suspension to be in such need of help like the Fabia VRS was, and I dont want to lower the ride height any further as my local roads are awful and I also carry alot of heavy dive kit at times.

Id also like to reduce the overrall noise level at speed if thats possible.

Anyway Id be interested in anyones comments as I love tweaking things.:)

FSD's with OEM springs might be a good combo for handling.

As you don't want to lower the ride height then Eibachs will be out; but Koni FSDs are really worth it. they make the ride more compliant and less jiggly/fidgety BUT sharpen the the handling really well. Do a 'search' for them as there are plenty of threads in which they are mentioned, particularly this one;- http://briskoda.net/forums/gearbox-tyres/koni-fsd-shock-absorbers/76644/

After FSDs you could look at the roll bar department; here is a table of specs that I put together for a post about six months ago;-

Update ARB list:-

Octy vRS OEM - Front 23mm, Rear 22mm

H & R 1 (Golf V) - Front 26mm, Rear 22mm (adjustable)

Eibach (Golf V) - Front 26mm, Rear 23mm

Neuspeed (Golf V) - Front 25mm, Rear 25mm (adjustable)

H & R 2 (Golk V) - Front 28mm, Rear 24mm (adjustable)

IIRC the Neuspeed bars are the most expensive, although not by to much of a margin but, most importantly, you can buy them individually (others are all sold in pairs).

For me I just wanted to tweak the balance of the handling without making it too stiff; a rear arb only was just the trick (neuspeed's is the thickest as it happens). I have it on the stiffest of three settings that is great in the dry although in the wet there is just the merest hint of the rear going out with oversteer; I feel I ought to put it on the mid setting for a better balance.

Food for thought, eh?
