Fabia vRS on eBay - apparently HPI clear?

Featured Replies

I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. I can't see how a smack like that wouldn't have set the front airbags off and the insurance payout seems a bit iffy....

Surely the airbags wouldn't have been deployed if the car was staitionary when the impact happened. It may have even been parked up at the side of the road.

Stranger things have happened.

I'm not interested in the car at all just trying to explain how it may have come about!

And seems a bit funny that a £8500 car has been written off for that ammount of damage

The impact looks quite high on the front

I saw that the other day too and couldn't work out why the airbags didn't deploy with so much front end damage.

bigal rallyred, does that mean if I'm sat in my car with the key out and I get hit I'll not get any lovely airbags? I thought they were purely mechanical and based around pressure switches and explosives, I'm prob wrong though.

No they need an electric charge to ignite. However that doesn't mean it won't happen when the ignition is out of course.

Just asked him how could the insurance have paid out and yet not included it on the write-off database...

Go for it Babs!!

His grammar and lack of maths skills offend me anyway....

Nice to see the cabin stood up to the impact. On a side note thoes mud flaps look tasty..

They're are the standard Skoda ones aren't they? on VRSs & Elegances? I've got a 2001 Elegance with them.. also, there are N.O.S sets on ebay at the min (as well as a dash board flip out & spin cup holder, that I want, but is to much)

sorry, bit off subject..

Although there is a lot of damage to the upper part frontend (bonnet/slam panel), the lower parts including the crashbar dont look like they have been hit. Even the headlights remain intact, and are not broken at all.

I would guess that the car has gone underneath something, like the back of a lorry at an angle. The airbags will not deploy because the sensors are still intact, decelleration would not have been abrupt. It would only take a low speed impact to do that amount of damage to the bonnet.

I was under the impression that airbags only went off once you were going a certain speed like 10mph but I'm now waiting to be shot down in flames.

The RAC Data HPI/check is currently £5 for 1 car or 3 cars for £12

You need the V5C reg document number that has 2 letters and 7 numbers in the white circle at the top AB1234567

The issue date

The VIN number from the car and the reg number

You'll then be emailed a pdf document to save or print.

For the MOT you need the car reg number and either the MOT cert No or the V5C Document reference number found where the registered keeper bit is.

MOT Information - Introduction

Remember that Fabia TDI VRS lookalike?

I think the cars either been driven under a truck or it was hit by a 4x4

'The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing'

Babs - did you get a response?

Nope, nothing! lol

The airbag's won't fire if your seatbelt is not on/fastened up.

I also agree with mannyo the airbag's will not deploy if the sensor is not triggered.

As for unrecorded the insurance probably paid out and he bought it back off them therefore the insurance will not class it as recorded.

I work at a scrap yard we deal strickly with insurance companies so know a little how it all works.
