Finished DIY FSD Install this am...

Featured Replies

Finally finished the install - took a total of about 6 hours of work on my lonesome to do. Many thanks to everyone who helped me actually get them :)

I think that winding up spring compressors should be used as an interrogation technique for terrorists

I am exhausted but pleased.:D

Initial results - the reviews are not lying at all. Weibo's fanatical passion about them is not misplaced  Xav's strongarm tactics were for a good reason.:rolleyes:

They are simply superb. Very comfy but have pushed the performance limit of the car much higher (don't ask how I know that).... Easier to do stuff with far less driver skill, if I can admit to that :rolleyes:

Much nicer daily driver now - and almost no nose-dive at all - you drop an inch and it holds there on hard braking.

Need to get my 4WA re-checked after I give it about 3 days to settle down - slight pull to the left now, lol.

Oh and the tunes that Dave (Shifty) sent me - made it a really great test drive :D:D

Cheers

Bas

Another one converted to the dark side

FSD's strike another blow to OEM shocks.

Good stuff Bas. Top mod imho, wish I could afford some... :( Ho hum, one day! :P

Start saving mate, it's worth every penny ;)

Well done Bas.

I hate springs compressors. I've changed the suspension on the furby 3 times

Was this FSD with Eibachs?

  • Author

yes - Eibachs springs only at first, then much later on lifeless OEM dampers replaced with FSD's along with all new bits + cut down bumpstops...

Had the 4WA done - fronts needed a tad of toe adjustment - rear camber is decreased a bit but fine...

SWMBP noticed that the car was much more comfy after I changed "the top bits/bushes on the suspension" (always keep it vague)

Cleaned out my K&N airfilter this weekend (Friday) - kept meaning to and hey presto a sandstorm appears - knocked a fair amount of sand out of it - after 4 sandstorms (!)- should be a blast to drive tmrw am....

:D

Bas

Bas, thanks for info - I'm on Eibachs at the mo and thinking of doing this at Jabba shortly.

What about the normal Koni's? I'm a little lost about the difference  Can anyone help / advise?

Oops, missed your thread, Bas. Great to hear it's done.

They are good, aren't they?! :D

I still haven't had the chance to enjoy mine, being in Paris all the time, but on the trip back from JKM and the M4 trip to Cardiff and back, was veryt surprised how comfortable the car was under normal motorway driving.

SWMBP? Ahhh pleased maybe? How did she not notice the colour change from black to bright yellow, especially on the black car?

Ooh last point, care to elaborate your terrorist interrogation technique so I can work on my strongarm tactics a bit more? :D :D :D

Frustratingly I managed to loose the locking wheel nut key for mine as I was at Bengie's fitting the fronts, so got the fronts on but the rears still need doing. For some reason though it still seems to sit up high at the front, but the handling is much improved already, even though I have the stock (estate) suspension still on the rears.

Guess I'll be visiting the dealer soon to get those bolts taken out or get a new locking wheel nut thing ordered :(

Well, after the positive reviews, mine are getting fitted at Jabba on Monday :D Getting quite excited now!!!!

Welcome to the club Bas :cool:

Steve

how much did they set u back then mate wish i could afford some lol

I and a few others bought them on JKM's recent group buy.

Cost me £517.73 for the FSDs (already had the Eibach springs fitted). That included fitting and full tracking setup.

The cost of the FSDs alone without the fitting was £369.10 inc vat and delivery to home address

There is a back order on these at the moment chaps - my fitting has been out back a week at Jabba. Booo!!!! ;)
