My Octavia vRS vs my buddies Corrado VR6

Featured Replies

Had a blast this evening with a mate from work. He was behind me in his Corrado VR6 (2.9L V6) just as we hit a "clear" dual cabbiageway!

His is not remapped, but has some minor tweaks such as air box, sports filter, etc. Standard, these run 190BHP. Mine is Jabba'd at (supposidly, according to the printout ;)) 225BHP with 230 ft IIb of torque.

I would say that we we were pretty much matched. I was very very slightly making more ground, but only a smidge until we ran out of road. Is this about right? I was surprised at how closely matched they are

(All this one done within the speed limits of course :bs:!!)

I believe the Octy is around 200kg heavier which'll be where your extra power went. Corrado's are very capable cars - I'd be happy!

Also don't always believe the rolling roads results.... especially from some tuners

Friend of mine has a Corrado 1.8 20vt conversion, running at not far off 300bhp. Its terrifyingly quick!

Yeah I'd imagine its the extra weight of the Octavia slowing it down.

hmmm i always thought the Corrado would be heavier! learn something new every day!

even now those carrodo vr6 are awsome bits of kit.

Octavia's must be really slow then, I ran along side of my mates corrado vr6 and pulled about 4-5 car lengths on him up to 70 ;)

Ps mine is the humble fabia :P

Yes but you could be mistaken for a Nan in your car:P:)

I've got both, and they're both pretty much standard. Got a slight boost prob with the vRS which is hopefully getting sorted tomorrow under warranty. My best mate has also got a vRS, which is notiveably quicker than mine. Gotta say, the Corrado would slaughter the vRS every day of the week, especially around the twisties. Gotta defo get a remap, rear ARB and some coilovers in the vRS to get close...

my octy beats sti impreza in a straight line :D

Yawn!!!

Had a "drag" race with my brother in his vento vr6 on the way to a VAG RR day at well lane in batley.

On the m62 from manchester, we both floored it where the motorway goes to "4 lanes up the hill" bit. He was in front but i slowly caught him and went past, again not a great margin between.

He thought his car was "flat out", i wasn't far off either.

At the RR his car went 174bhp, mine made 181bhp. (mines remapped)

Corrado Kerb Weight: 1240Kg

Octy vRS Kerb Weight: 1470Kg

Those 230kg explain why they are so evenly matched :)

I have a vRS motor in my Corrado and it will beat my mates S3 and i've scalped a fair few WRX imprezas aswell!

Phew, you'd be a cert for the Olympics running squad you know ;)
