Featured Replies

Hi there.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a well priced caliper rewinding tool suitable for the rear fabia calipers.

Thanks

Joel

Are they hard to use? And changing the rear discs and pads in general?

I've got a bit of experience, fitted an ARB, strut brace, sound system etc, can use a basic set of tools! But never changed brakes before.

Theres a full set of OE Mintex discs and pads on the bay for £41 posted... saves the £120 odd the dealers want to charge :thumbdwn:

The propper caliper tool is about £35-£40 from VW/Skoda etc.

Does the piston actually turn as you push it back or does it just push straight back like a normal one. If that is the case would a G clamp not be OK.

You have to turn it.

Agreed you need to turn it and push at the same time.

I bought the Sealey brake piston wind back tool kit in the link below. Make sure that the tool you buy is specifically suitable for VAG vehicles.

I found the caliper bolts were in v tight, a bit of heat eases the initial undoing. I guess they are threadlocked from the factory.

Found this out the hard way on my octavia - definetly get the real thing not bodge it
