Passed my IAM today

Featured Replies

Finally passed my IAM today. I did originally have my test booked for early december but thanks to numpty here getting his times wrong I missed it and lost my £35 booking fee. Since then I've been busy with christmas, looking for a new house to rent, moving home and working lots of overtime. So about 3 weeks ago I decided to get my **** into gear and rebook my test.

As my last observer drive was a good 5 months ago things wernt as fresh in my mind as they should of been. I actually thought the drive today was terrible compared to how I've been driving lately. Also boy was I nervous. My maneuvers were jinksed. On my reversing round a corner a group of young lads decided to hang about on the corner for some time  and then on my parallel park a young boy of about 6 was standing waving an iron bar  Needless to say we gave that one a miss and went on to do a reverse into a car parking space.

At the end of the test I was surpised when Paul (ex traffic cop of 33 years) congratulated me on passing :D He did say I made a couple of minor errors. One was my speed crept upwards now and then and the second was when I was in a bus lane and got court in the bus lane lights. He said I should of moved out so I wouldnt of got court in them. This I brought up when I did it as I knew I got it wrong. But overall he said I had a good driving standard and to keep it up.

Woo! Well done John! :balloons:

Now, as my examiner told me, all you have to do is keep up to the standard you've set yourself, and improve on it.

Cheers Nick. Thnk my next steps ROSPA but looks like I'll have to travel.

Well done m8, are you a member of the Merseyside Group. Paul is an excellent examiner, very patient, understanding and totally puts you at ease. You passed you test so your driving is at a very high standard, well done.

I passed mine in 1995, such a long time back now but never regretted it.

You should become an Observer, if time allows, keeps your driving at a high level.

Any way well done!

Thanks and yes I'm a member of the merseryside group. At first wasnt too keen on the idea that each time you go out you have a different oberver, paul thinks the same but at the same time he said it must work as the people he gets from the merseyside group have a high standard.

Congratulations :)

well done mate

Congratulations John :)

Now do a "proper" advanced test ;):D

Pleas tell me you took the thing off the parcel shelf for the test....

Congratulations, well done. :thumbup::)

Well done mate

Well done from another IAM member. I've also passed that RoSPA Advanced Driver's test to Gold standard, though my refresher is overdue due to family commitments. I'll probably prepare for a retest once I get used to my new Fabia estate due early May.

It's good to see plenty of good drivers amongst the ranks at Briskoda!

Jo

Indeed, very well done matey!

No regrets since doing mine in 05, but its definitely just the first step to really advanced driving ;)

That'll be a big fat NO! :P Wearing it proud for the rollerskate drivers :)

Think the closet ROSPA is blackburn after that its your neck of the woods. I'll have to look into it but may ask for a demo drive off you first though.

Need to work my way up till I can spend a day with god ;)

Well done mate. It's a tough course and will set you up for the rest of your driving career.

Everyone should do IAM, there'd be a lot less mayhem on the roads and no need for the Traffic Taliban that blight our driving pleasure.

Well done, mate! :D Did I see you signed up to the HPC Young Driver's Day this year? (July 19th btw ;))
