Verdict on Bluefin for my MK2 Octavia 2.0TFSI

Featured Replies

Depends on roads i suppose plus you haven't done anything to your car.

I drive from Cheshire to Folkestone quite often and on my last trip i got 43.6mpg sticking at 75mph on cruise. This was done at Oh My God it's Early o Clock so didnt have traffic to contend with either

Also someone at some point may or may not have done something like put REVO Stage II on my car:rolleyes:;) and that greatly improves fuel economy:D

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

I get around 43-45mpg sticking at around 70-80mph on motorway cruises.

Can also hit around 30mpg driving round town.

You sure you have taken the handbrake off:rolleyes::P:D

my problem is i have the autobahns to contend with. not a chance of making 30mpg in town with mine if there is any traffic though. ok if there isnt

Yeah i only managed around 11mpg on them :D:D:D:D

There must be something wrong with my car then, no way am i getting those figures on mine, but i supppose i have 30bhp more so could be why

I always love the I get x MPG debates.

We have std estate - 70mph on the cruise on the M25 reset the bean counter - little or no breaking 36-37 mpg (over optimistic imho) drop to 60 and then the figure starts with a 4 (41-43 mpg) Hit a back road for 15 mins and then it back to 31. Std with 18" Zeniths.

43.6 is the equivalent of 526 out of a tank - thats diesel economy - I am hoping to see our first 400 mile tank on a run next week!

Well maybe my maxidot is out but the furthest i have managed is 540 miles on one tank driving from Germany to Italy. I brimmed the tank to start with and got the first hiccup signalling no fuel at 540 miles so i pulled over and put in the fuel i had in the boot which got me to nearest service station.

Maybe you lot should learn to drive:P

Afterall clarkson drove a V8 twin turbo diesel audi A8 to edinburgh and back on 1 tank of fuel. And proved that a Jag (cant remember which one) would have given him 1000 miles from one tank driving from switzerland to blackpool. Yes i know they were diesels but they were powerful diesels and especially in the Jag test Clarkson didn't hang about

best ive ever managed is 508 to the tank so were not that far off really. although realistically i mget 400-440 on a long run. but im happy with the fuel economy to be fair. Id have bought the diesel if i was worried about fuel economy, plus id change my driving style massively, lol

Amazing - we rarely saw 500 to a tank in our Mondeo 130 TDCI - thats why we sold it!

I will try a cruise at 75 and see what happens - unfortunately will not be in the dead of night so will have some traffic to contend with. If we get over 40 I will be well chuffed. Also the estate is heavier and perhaps less aerodynamic?

You mean you need to learn to drive? Surly you just get in, turn the key engage gear and press the right pedal to the flor until it stops accelerating, repeat 5 times - thats right isn't it!

I will admit I struggle to sit there and never touch the loud pedal! Then on country roads its even harder to trundle along (or bimble as a mate once described it).

It does give me hope - and the prospect of reasonable economy with the option of pace was one of the reasons to buy the car over an Imprezza (never got more than 30mpg out of that!)
